The install absolutely sucks!! Took me 7 hrs by myself. I used the Rigid roof mount brackets, and I really like them.

If the headliner was completely removed, the install would take a couple of hours. Trying to partially remove it and work around it is mind numbing. Drilling down through the roof was nothing difficult. Expanding the bottom hole inside the truck to 1" is a freak'n PITA (because the liner is always in the way). I had to superglue the washer to the nut, or else it would easily have fallen down into the truck, never to be found again.

Once the light is installed and everything is water-sealed, there is NO WAY to remove the light. If you had to replace the light, you'd have to undo all of your work (remove the headliner, break the water-seals, break the Loctite, loosen the bolts, cut the wiring, then redo it all for the new light).

HOWEVER, once the light is mounted it looks amazing!! In reality, it is the only light you need. Yes, I have a 50", 40", two 20", and four Duallies - but it's just overkill. The light appears to add a few inches of height to the truck, but mostly it's an illusion. My truck fits everywhere with room to spare. I'm sitting between top and middle perch.

That's affirmative on the wind noise. Loud and obnoxious, but in a couple of weeks you stop noticing. I find tilting it can change the noise levels.

At slower highway speeds you hear wind turbulence, but after 80 mph you start to hear a whistle.

Wrap a 1/4" nylon cord around it in a spiral. Like how the stock antenna has a spiral around it. That should kill any noise.

Joe,

I've heard that solution many times. I can only assume is stops the whistle? What about the wind turbulence?

I'm not too crazy about the look of cord wrapped around my light. Sounds kind of ghetto! Any pics of this mod?

Cheers!

I don't have any pics, and I'm not 100% sure it will eliminate all noise, buy it should get rid of the whistle.
Try some black cord and see if it works.

I know what you mean about the looks. I put cord on my Yakima roof bar. No noise, but now I had white cord around a black bar. Luckily the bar was easy to put on and take off.

I need to do this for my Rigid Dually light claws. Sounds like a wet finger on the top of a wine glass when I am on the highway. At 12am on back roads by the tecate Mexican border, that is not the sound I want my truck to be making.

Weird, I get no noise at all from my hood mounted lights. They're slightly bigger than dualies though.

I am curious how the low profile of the baja onyx would do for wind noise compared to the rigid
