Wow, didn't even realize how lively this thread got

Short story, you need monoball tie rods to fit the new steering angle created by the larger size calipers. The stockers will be beyond their max at level and well past it with travel, turning, etc.

I guess the brakes I got came with everything including the adapter plates so I didn't even think about what ya'll were getting at with the brackets, etc

These are the best truck brakes I've ever driven. Good pedal feel, consistent bite, no fade, no mush, etc

the Alcons saved me from an accident few months after installing , on my GEN 1 lady pulled out right in front of me. They are a quantum leap in stopping power over Gen1 OEM. With my toyos and weight i carry, OEM , i could not get brakes to come close to locking up on wet pavement . More heat that built up worse it was . Installed Alcon 4 wheel setup , and the difference was incredible. no mush and tight pedal feel . Some of that is SDHQ brake lines and motul 5.1 brake fluid . But even modulating in normal driving it takes very light touch to slow down . Its pricey but nice to have in an emergency , Still debating if i'm going to install fronts on my GEN2 .

I wonder how much of a difference just a more aggressive brake pad change would help with the braking on these cars, instead of doing a full caliper switch?

Nil. Been there done that. Nothing you can do with the OEM 2 piston floating calipers vs 6 piston fixed mounted calipers.

I swapped the Ford pads out round 50k miles ago with some "gold" ones from one of the stores. I haven't rear ended anyone yet, but I did come pretty close once. I don't really tailgate like most people I've ridden with, my kid included. Only had 2-3 emergency situations in the 4 years with the Raptor. In the back of my mind I know the brakes are not the greatest so I just back off as a habit.

Yeah it's so much more that that for me. I really like the feel of a fixed caliper - I HATE sliding/floating calipers, they feel sloppy AF. For me it is more about feel than anything else really. There is no drama, no fuss they just stop like a ****.
