Review: Alcon Brakes for Gen 2

I read that entire article. Not One Word about the actual documented improvement in stopping distance. A lot about "feelings" and how high tech & pretty it is. I get that they have military contracts, but for those of us who are NOT funded by the DOD, we would like to see a comparison with oem brakes. And how many dollars does it cost to shave how many feet from 60mph to zero? Show me the math on making my 3 ton Gen1 stop better with those bolt-on front brakes and I'll order them right now.

This should help. I agree it's pretty technical, I found it on an engineering site. Seems like some solid information showing a 12% improvement.

Most people here are getting the Roush take offs from ebay, $1k then brackets from alconkits.com for $500 ish. So $1500 for the front. I ended up getting the rears also for another $3k, because I hate money. You can get away just upgrading pads and rotors for $800 in the back.

All this depends on what your goal is with the truck.

Yup. That's about what I calculated. $1K for caliper, pad, and rotor. $600 for heim-style outer tie rods, and around $525 (plus tax & delivered) for these two shiny pieces of steel & some bolts. Consider the cost of new front oem calipers, generic drilled rotors & quality pads combined is probably around $500 for the Flintstone-era technology it came with, then include my $1000 deductible and rental car cost. The first time I avoid a collision here in the litigation capital of the country, they just paid for themselves!
