Tell me what you would do if an NA V8 producing more power and torque than the 3.5 V6 comes out. Will you curl up in your twin size bunk bed and cry till your parents buy you a new Raptor with an NA V8?

Once thing I've noticed is that a lot of Gen2 buyers are coming from a sports sedan to the Raptor. That really tells a lot about the new owners and Ford's target market.

Once Ford is done selling twin-turbo-ed street queens to princesses like you, they'll bring out the V8 option for most Gen1-ers to upgrade to. The rest of the Gen1 owners who pulled the trigger too soon are going to be pissed off.
I'm a "gen 2 buyer". I didn't wanna wait 2+ more years hoping that Ford eventually offers a v8. I love this truck!

Who says I cant just sell my current truck and buy the v8 IF/when its available? At that point I'll be happy to buy the new v8 in its second production year with zero urgency. Ford can work out the inevitable issues, and I'll still be driving the best truck on the road...And if it becomes the second best truck (to the new V8 Raptor), I'll upgrade. Dig?

Wait, there are a few ***** who are sure that we will see a v8 option in 2018. So Ford is going to do v6 in 2017, v8 in 2018, and a new 7 liter v8 in 2020?

I'm thoughouly pleased with my Gen II Raptor. It surpasses the J1 in ALL performance and weight specs. It is simply a much much better truck than the J1. The J1 is old and tired.

Right now the Gen II is the king of the mountain but it won't be forever and when the next one is available I won't be whining about how the Gen II is somehow better because it has something the Gen 3 doesn't have, when the Gen 3 is clearly a better truck.

And I also won't be posting in the Gen 3 section about how butthurt I am, try to discount and berate a truck just because I'm so pissed that I drive the old dog. That would be insecure and pathetic.

Get....over...it already. Sell those old trucks and get a new one. They're freakin' awesome trucks. Stop prolonging your agony and self loathing :lol2:

While I have no trouble believing that there will be a new Ford V8, I do have doubts that we'll see it in the Raptor (from the factory).

I'm a lifelong Texan, but I have a lot of extended family in Missouri (Missouri being, as I'm sure we all recall from elementary school, the "Show Me" state).

One thing to note is that offering a V8 option isn't as simple as just dropping it in place of the EB V6... in order to offer the entire package that is the Raptor, they're going to have to rework the (front) springs as well, which means different shock calibrations. Add in other packaging considerations (such as application-specific exhaust routing, etc...) and possible stability control recalibration (due to different weight distribution and different spring/shock rates). There may be crash testing considerations as well, and there would damn sure be EPA/mileage testing to be done. So... honestly ask yourself... what are the chances that Ford is going to do all of that to upgrade a truck that already sells just fine and performs better than anything else in its class (that being a class of, for the most part, one)?

I'm not saying that it won't happen... just that it's not as simple as taking Lego pieces and slapping them together into whatever configuration you happen to dream up.

Your Gen isMuch better for YOU.

We'll see if you follow your own advice in 2 years, so between now and then, let us rust peacefully in our old world steel bodies with antiquated marine motors. By then I'll have 120k on my motor which is the break in period, haha.

My living will specifically requires my casket to be mounted to the bed rack before burial (truck and all) with full GenWar veteran honors.

This is excellent news! A twin turbo V6 just never made sense for the Raptor.

If they build this I will proudly park one next to my 700+ horsepower Gen 1.

I wonder how much power this 7.0 is going to make with a Whipple. :hmm:

To the guys who said they would just sell their EB V6s and buy a new V8 Gen2, well, that's fair enough. But you do realize, if a V8 Gen2 is announced, your V6 Gen2's value will drop lower than a lead ball in the sea. But hey, if you can afford it, you can do what you want!

To that one annoying Gen2 owner: your Gen2 is better than ours on paper. For now. No denying that. But 'much much' better? Haha - what are you smoking dude? If ours was a 9/10, yours is a 9.1/10. Be happy I even gave you that 0.1. Just out of curiousity, have you ever even driven a Gen1??

And to be honest, if I did go the route of selling my Raptor, I would probably just buy a JK and put a Hemi in it. I wouldn't have baddest truck around, but at least I wouldn't have a Gen2.
