I keep reading here about problems that 2017 GEN2 owners have - oil leaks, failure to start, transmission problems, on and on - and I really can't help but wonder whether the complexity of a twin turbo V6 powerplant is the problem.
On the other hand maybe the demise of SVT and the institution of Ford Performance is the problem.
Either way, there are multiple threads here about GEN2 problems. That can't be ignored.
And maybe Ford isn't ignoring it, and that's why the EcoBoost twin turbo V6 will have only two model years before being replaced.
IF, that is, this info about the 7.0L V8 can be believed.

Tell me what you would do if an NA V8 producing more power and torque than the 3.5 V6 comes out. Will you curl up in your twin size bunk bed and cry till your parents buy you a new Raptor with an NA V8?

Once thing I've noticed is that a lot of Gen2 buyers are coming from a sports sedan to the Raptor. That really tells a lot about the new owners and Ford's target market.

Once Ford is done selling twin-turbo-ed street queens to princesses like you, they'll bring out the V8 option for most Gen1-ers to upgrade to. The rest of the Gen1 owners who pulled the trigger too soon are going to be pissed off.

Everyone is wrong. Ford has been working with Toyota (just like BMW has been) and is going to put in Toyota's hybrid powertrain into the 2020 Raptor. There is even talk that the motor is going to be lifted straight out of the Prius C.

Hey - I'm new around here (seriously). So did the first generation not have any issues?

The only recall on the GEN1s that I am aware of was a driveshaft replacement to address some slop in the slip joint. It was well managed by Ford and expeditiously accomplished at my dealership.

Lol bunk beds.

Love my gen2 and not one issue and loved my gen1 but it was time for the updates. If they release a v8 version I will dump the v6 just like I dumped the gen1 without looking back, and I won't be mad at all not sure why anyone would be mad. If they make a v8 great if not then while all of the dreamers wait I will enjoy the v6. Seems to do everything better than my gen1 so far....
