. A big reason for leaks not covered by the article is that older motors may have leaks but they are blocked by gunge. The synthetic dissolves the blockage so a leak starts.

Ya, I wouldn't use synthetics on a worn motor for sure.

Kinda on the subject....

When I picked up the Raptor this week the dealer said the first oil change was on them. They recommend that I bring the truck in after 1,000 miles; so they can get the initial wear of metal bits from the engine. I know there have been arguments about this ad nauseum on forums, but this is the first time that I ever had a dealer recommend and offer to pay for it.

Make sure you flush your engine with distilled water (3 gallons) in between oil changes.

i typically use *****.... ?

Make sure your pee H is around 7.2-7.8 or you will induce corrosion on the cylinder heads.

For 3 gallons you must be using moose *****?

Do you use that supplier out of sasketchewan? I tried one vendor in waupekeneta but they were a lil pricey.

If you are properly hydrated (a good indicator is clear to slightly yellow *****) your body will expel mainly water and pH should in the high 6 to mid 7 range.

Any idea how long royal purple lasts?

I was told it doesn't last very long.
