This should be an interesting topic of conversation for that Ford Sandia event. Wonder if Mr West Covina is going to drive his truck out there and protest. LOL

Yeah I still have a Raptor. Got 14,000 miles on it and got it washed today!
I thought the same thing - wondered if West Covina based SVTBlueManGripe was going to park his Raptor at the Raptor Roundup 3 with a huge sign on it like this guy:

14,000 miles means you've been doing some motorcycling instead of driving your Raptor. Did you break 3,000 miles on your GT500 yet?

Haha, actually it's 15,000. My commute is minuscule so the miles don't really rack up.

GT500 has around 6400 miles.

My bike has more than a quarter of the miles my other bike had already. I owned my previous bike for 5 years so yeah I am riding this one more!

I checked my frame and bump stops and everything else yesterday. No problems here with mine.

I read the article and I don't agree with this part at all:

"Mike Levine, editor of PickupTrucks.com, says while the owners have responsibilities for knowing what their off-roading courses hold, Ford should have provided driving classes or some other kind of training to give Raptor owners a better sense of their vehicle's limits. "For Raptor owners trying to figure out what the capabilities are, this would be a lot better than going out in groups and finding out what the design limits are in the real world. I can't fault these guys for getting upset."

Anybody can go out and buy a motorcycle, which is a device that can lead to or up to instant death or major property damage in the hands of the uninitiated. There is no "driving class" for these vehicles.

Dealers, manufacturers, etc are under no obligation to provide a hand holding or training course at all nor should they.

Gun manufacturers don't do this either.

Some things are just common ****ing sense. Know your limits and the equipment limits and environmental limits.

I'm tired of the "warning label generating generation", you know, the folks that are responsible for this crap and the warnings on products like "Do not use iron to iron clothes while wearing them" and the fact I have DIRECTIONS on how to use my trash cans. Seriously, WTF?

Unfortunately we live in a society that finds it easier to point fingers and place blame vs. looking in the mirror and admitting that it was YOUR FAULT!

Additionally, I do not see any other OEM putting together Truck or Car Roundup's like Ford SVT does with the Raptor.

Could not agree more xjr. Mike's comments hit me completely wrong too; almost sounds like he's pandering to his audience.

The favorite comparison seems to be what SRT (Chrysler/Dodge) does with their cars. They offer a "training class" that puts you in one of their cars, with one of their experts and takes you around a track all day long to learn what they're capable of. The unfortunate part of that comparison, however, is that SRT charges over $300 a head for one of those events, they're not held with any regularity nor are they held in places most buyers can get to, and taking one is NOT a prerequisite to owning one of the cars. In other words, its a stupid comparison.

It ticks me off this "issue" has got so much traction in the media. They're giving it a platform it doesn't deserve, and in the process they're potentially seriously hurting the future of this niche.

Oh and the other thing I found amusing is that there is a vendor out there who has apparently "seen this happening with Raptor's for many months" but never publicized it as a problem (don't remember seeing it until recently), what the possible root cause was, or how to avoid the problem.

Well, one thing's for sure - we all know who's to blame for this ****storm of negative publicity about the Raptor and the claims of "flawed frame design" - it's incredible to me that the two people primarily behind this are both moderatorz on a Raptor forum.

Someone please tell Ford to pull their support of that ****hole website!

I love that those two guys are quick to point out that thread is not a "blame" thread...except when they are throwing blame at Ford.
