I suspect he said that because lots of Raptor owners have driven the snot out of our Raptors and haven't had frame bending experiences. I'll guess that's why he said that.

If one was to go beyond driving the snot out of one's Raptor then one might want to beef up the frame and add bump stops, etc.

Until the 10 of 14 got bent I'd only seen 1 Raptor with a bent frame and that one happened because he got his Raptor about 4 feet in the air and came down very badly.

It could be faulty driving or it could have been bump stops or over heated shocks combined with lower rated springs. A lot of these guys was running Deaver springs for example which some people are reporting causes them to bottom out. The suspension is fine tuned for the Raptor. Changing any single piece of the system could require re-tuning such as re-vavling the shocks. So who really knows but it's interesting to say the least.

I have Deavers and my frame is fine. I have never hit anything the way these guys hit that kicker...if I did my frame would be bent too. You could spend thousands upon thousands increasing the ability of the Raptor at high speed off-road but then you lose the other things like on-road ability that makes a Raptor a Raptor. Is the Raptor perfect? Far from it! But it does everything well enough to make it the only vehicle in its class. I can do all the things off road that I want a and still be more than comfortable driving around town. That's hard to find in the off-road world. I am just going to try and enjoy my truck within its limits and hope I don't break it too bad...then upgrade it as I do :)

If you want to play hard and drive like Robbie Gordon. You will either have to pay upfront, or at the end.

The Raptor is a very capable truck, but it is NOT race truck. I'm just glad it was only bent frames verses something worse (rollover/death).

Exceptions don't make the rules though. If I'm reading it right, 10 of the 14 trucks with bent frames were running Deavers. The couple who escaped un harmed either didn't have Deavers or did not complete the run. It's one theory that the shocks was simply over heated along with softer springs at the time of impact. The trucks was probably over loaded with gear and passengers. From what I've read, Deavers reduces the weight ratings. So maybe it's just a combination of things at the right...or in this case wrong time causing the bump stops to bottom out. Also, if you read in the "Houston we have a problem" thread, A.I.I.Racing said he has ran this that trail and it's not a hard or rough trail. Houston we have a problem! (the bent frame thread) - Page 4 - FORD RAPTOR FORUM - F-150 SVT Raptor Forum - Ford Raptor Discussion Forums So again, who knows.

That's not the case...the one making all the stink with Ford and I believe GotSvt both are running stock springs. I'm of the firm belief after seeing the did that the guys that have the issue were just going too fast to slow down enough for upcoming obstacles. It could happen to any of us but it doesn't mean there is a problem with the design. As a driver it's your responsibility to know how things such as load and heat change the way the truck handles and adjust you driving accordingly.

If you look at the video's of the run that are posted in that thread you will see just how hard the kicker hit was. It cause the rear of the truck to fly off the ground several feet, nothing could withstand that impact and not have some sort of damage. They also bottomed the truck out, on the cattle crossing, causing alarms in the truck to go off, you can hear the alarms in the video. To my amazement they didn't even stop to check for damage. What does that tell you?

Forgot to mention the guy that bent the front spindles. Watch his video and you will see him high speed nose dive into a burm or kicker. He hit so hard it thew soil over the roof of the truck, covering the camera.

Bent Spindles watch around the 1:50 mark YouTube - ‪Raptor Run Ford Raptor‬‏

Outlaw Raptor jump or double hop, hard landing. YouTube - ‪SUPCO Raptor takes flight...... going huge in the company car.‬‏

The cattle crossing, bottomed out and ripped the ABS connections off and didn't event stop, also the Kicker that bent the frame. YouTube - ‪Barstow to Vegas: Sneaky Cattle Crossing and Kicker‬‏

It's hard to beleieve the guy with the bent spindles, was more concerned with wipeing the dirt off his camera, than the condition of his truck!
