A Raptor SUV would be killer.

I would literally never use the bed. Might sit on the tailgate, but that's about it.

It would also give Ford an SUV worth buying.

Those bed cabs and covers look terrible.

Are you saying treunu covers look bad? Backflip looks and works fine. Diamondback looks great and works great. Don't know why someone would want an SUV version of the Raptor, but housewives would like it. Heavier vehicle with the 3.5 TT engine would be fine for them.

I love the look of my black diamondback cover. Course if I wanted a soccer mobile I would have gotten a minivan. ;)

I had an suv once and found it not that useful as a utility vehicle. Sure for the wife grocery shopping and stuff but not for when I need a truck. However my truck gets groceries just as well so. Again what does an SUV really get you.

Stuff that's flat/flush with the top of the bed looks alright, but IMO anything that sits on top/above the bed I find to be unattractive. Just my opinion. I like a clean, stock look on just about everything I drive.

IMO Ford has nothing in the rugged/masculine SUV department. Outside of the 4runner, Wrangler Unlimited, Land Cruiser, etc., it's just about all mom-mobiles.

SUV gives you usable passenger area + enclosed, air conditioned, secure space for cargo. It's also easier to load into the back of an SUV than it is onto the seats of a super crew pickup, as well as having more cargo area. Not looking to get into a pickup v suv debate, but those are the facts.

I never need to haul a refrigerator, or trash or whatever that is larger than the enclosed cargo space of an SUV. Plus around here it's hot, rainy, and things get nicked out of pickup beds all the time. The bed of a pickup is really just crumple zone for me.

Have you ever gotten into the back of the Supercrew. Not sure how getting in the back of it is any harder than any other vehicle that rides the same it is a very large full size back seat.
As for cargo, problem with suv and cargo is unless it is clean and fits in that little space it will quickly tear up the interior. Rather put it in the bed, get a cover if worried about weather and theft.
I have had both and will never own an suv again it was just silly. I do not count wranglers as suv cause even the unlimited is too small to haul more than a few groceries.

I think a short wheel-base Raptor (i.e. Scab) SUV would actually work well. I agree with the above post that short of the Wrangler Unlimited, 4Runner/FJ Cruiser and Land Rovers, all the other SUVs are really glorified or sporty minivans with little to no off-road capabilities.

Given that Jeeps are now being built by Fiat, I shudder to think of the next-gen Jeep Wrangler to be released for 2017. If Fiat is smart, they'll keep it similar. But Fiat is not known for their subtlety. I think Ford could be in a unique market position to offer a truly off-road capable SUV to compete against the Jeep Wrangler. It'll be much more powerful, larger and offer similar off-road capabilities. I think it'd be a great addition to the Raptor lineup and could be a brand all by itself in the Ford universe, with multiple models in both pickup and SUV modes - they could also capitalize on the former owners of the now-extinct Hummer brand, who will be driving 6+ year old Hummers and will be looking to upgrade.

Offer two versions of the SUV, SCAB and SCREW sized... like the Tahoe/Suburbans.

That might work and wouldn't require much more capital investment. Interchangeable body panels, etc. Coming from a Jeep background (owned Jeeps for 20+ years), I just find it convenient to have a covered extended cab/bed - great for my big dogs. However, I really love having a pickup bed that you can toss anything into and not have to worry about stinking up the interior - gas cans, mulch, etc.

I doubt anything will come of this, but it'd be cool to see.

They need to take that rendering and make it into a new Ford Bronco.. Yours looks way better then the Hennessy SUV, theirs looks like a Raptor mixed with like an 03 excursion. ugly.

Sure, back seat of a supercrew is very spacious. It's just that the large, flat surface of an SUV is much better for loading cargo, and you can carry 4-5 people plus cargo.

"Get a cover" I'd much rather a factory cover, i.e. an SUV.

All of the cargo I carry is clean. If it's not I can clean the mat. I totally understand for a work truck where you're hauling trash, equipment, tools that a pickup or a van is completely superior, but for a Raptor (which would be a personal vehicle for me) it is not.

One more thing is dogs. I know many people feel comfortable riding their dogs in their pickup bed, but I don't. I also don't want my dog tearing up leather seats, etc. SUV is perfect for this.

Just my .02. I know a Raptor SUV wouldn't be for everybody, but there would definitely be a big market that would buy it.

Which is why I love my combo of a bedrug and diamondback cover. Having driven a Ford Explorer for 14 years prior to buying my Raptor, I can say that I will never go back to an SUV. I really can't see the advantages an SUV has over my Raptor, other than hauling live animals that require an air conditioned environment.

You get in a bad car wreck driving an SUV full of luggage, someone could get killed from flying debris in the cabin (suitcase to the back of your kids head for instance). My family is protected because all the hard cargo would be flying around the inside of the bed, not the inside of the passenger compartment.

Raptor should never be modified into a mommy wagon, I mean SUV
