When I called the Cortez yesterday, they had rooms in the 'Suites' building available, so I got one :)

OK, so we got it all figured out and reservations have been made...at the Westin.

It's a completely non-smoking facility (important due to my wife's severe asthma ). Hotels that allow dogs/pets usually insist you stay in a smoking room which we can't do - the El Cortez promised us a non-smoking room and the manager called back and said no-can-do-Shamu.

Westin is $109/night for a 4-star rated facility. We should get in about 6PM Friday night.

It'd be cool if everyone posted here where they're staying and when they're arriving.

How are our Vegas/Henderson boys doing on offroading plans? Got anything lined up for Sunday AM maybe? I wouldn't mind visiting a big store that sells that four letter word that begins with G and ends in S and has "un" in the middle :D are they open on Sundays?

Dan,
I will be at work on Sunday am but the Outdoor World is right off of I-15 on the South side of Vegas, I cannot remember the exit number but the sign has the silverton casino on it. It is open on Sunday.

We hope you're making plans to join us in Las Vegas!

This is going to be a great, fun event and it should be the biggest gathering yet of Ford Raptor owners. To date 42 Raptor owners have registered to participate! There will be special Raptor Only parking.

The event starts at 8AM on Saturday at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. SVToffroad.com will have a table and large banner at the event. Make sure you come by to say hello and let us know if you're going to join us on the trail drive after the event. We also hope to have a group dinner Saturday night followed by a night trail ride.

Your SVToffroad.com team has been working to come up with some goodies too so you're going to want to be there. It's going to be a fun get-together and our local Vegas/Henderson members have been working very hard to select the best trails for us to drive.

Team SVToffroad.com recommends you bring some of your camping/offroading gear:
  • Folding/camp chairs
  • Ice chest with water, frosty beverages
  • Lunch & snacks (we could be at the Speedway for quite a while - best to be prepared)
  • Full tank of gas
  • Tools
  • Tie-downs for the above gear - we're going to hit the trails
  • FRS radio!
  • Sun screen
  • Camera!

Mike McNellis, regional rep for Ford has been on our forum (SVToffroad.com) and here's what he's told us: You do not need to pre register - it is encouraged for our planning purposes. By registering you'll get preferential driving times. If we have 15 people who want to drive at 8:45 and 3 registered, those three will get to go first. Everyone should get on the track, but I don't want you to wait three hours. Registered attendees also get dibs on the Raptor swag. We hope to have enough for everyone, but by registering you get first shot. I work in the Phoenix regional office for Ford. We support dealers in Arizona, New Mexico, and Southern Nevada.

Here's the latest list of participants from the South West Group - if you're planning on going and your name is not on this list please email me! And if your status is not shown on this list please let me know.

I live about 5 miles from the event.

My suggestions are:

- to stay at Aliante Station Casino nearby.
- visit the nellis dunes for some offroad.
- go to the new clark shooting park which is very close ( on very top of N.Decatur )
** two offroad areas at base of park **

Not sure if this is ok but Im a partner at GunBlog.com If anyone is interested in shooting, we currently have the Bushmaster ACR, FN SCAR, fully mod AR's, Stag's, M4's. New XD .45, P226's, Glock 21's, etc.. etc.. not to mention half of the rifles have Acogs and Eotechs while the some of the pistols have holo optics as well. Walmart on decatur has deals on .223 ammo 39 bucks for 100 rounds.

You pay for ammo and maybe we can setup a shoot day/video shoot.

The guys at the gun park are goo goo over raptors.

Nice!

I'm still not sure I'm going...still waiting on my Raptor but if it works out I'm always up for shooting...especially the new XDM .45 :) I've got ammo to burn as well.

Riku, glad to hear you'll be there. (Yes, it's OK to post about another site here especially a firearms site :) ).

Perhaps folks will be interested in shooting on Sunday (if that's what you're talking about)? It sounds like you have access to quite a collection of firearms and I'd be up for seeing and shooting them if we have time.

I'm currently giving the Raptor a wash (done), clay bar (in progress) and wax in prep for next weekend. It's surprising how much goop the clay is getting off and the truck is only 3 weeks old. Only doing the hood, fenders, front doors and roof (it has the sticker package).

Back to the grind.....

Thanks Dan,

Its a very family fun shooting park, It's outdoors and huge. Well structured military style for safety. Sundays are a bit crowded. I would have to show up and book the lanes early so we can all be side by side. I'm thinking 5 tables 3 with assault rifles and 2 with pistols.

Lane 1: ACR
Lane 2: Fully tweaked AR
Lane 3: FN SCAR
Lane 4: Sig Sauer 226 Blackwater & New XD .45
Lane 5: Glock 21 w/ JR holo optics & SW .40

The Parking sits high on a mountain and is a Great place for a raptor photo/video shoot ( I will handle video editing / pic editing etc.. ) I think it would be fantastic visual content for the SVToffroad forum. I will be at the Raptor roundup my slot is 10-10:15 ( i think ) Look for the black raptor with the big poser 20's on it...:)

Let me know guys. I'm down to pay for the lanes and bring the guns if we can secure min 5 guys. The park opens 7am on Sunday for those interested let me know what time is good.
