You are correct, but do we really need the TRX or the R? NO! All that power isn't necessary offroad and if you wanted a s/c, the gen 1 offers plenty of reliability with a Whipple mounted on it. The 5 link and updated suspension and nannies YES, we need those! This is just Ford saying FU to Dodge and most won't be getting or wanting the expensive gas fill ups anymore.
In my opinion, a Gen 1 with a Whipple S/C isn't even close to the reliability of a factory built forced induction engine. The most important parts are weak- the rods and pistons are not forged and the crank is cast iron instead of forged steel. The cooling system was not designed for that kind of power either.

This is true. Ford will never beat FCA with horsepower. But horsepower is only part of the equation. If Ford is really serious about the R as anything other than a me-too product, they'll improve the suspension to keep up with the horsepower. Then anyone with off road aspirations wouldn't take a TRX at half the price. If your opposition is stronger, you'd best be more nimble. Do I think Ford will do that? Probably not. They've been screw-ing the pooch a lot lately. But we can hope.

Don't you have some balls to hang on your rear bumper or something! I still can't figure out why Ken is talking about a Dodge, must of missed something in the last year or so with covid, did he jump ship and leave Ford behind? (seriously).

Turbocharging the 6.2 has not been reliable, but I havent seen much destruction from Whipples on them, especially with JDM's tune, don't care if the rods are made with toothpicks, they have held up very well being supercharged. I agree with you, a factory supplied s/c engine is way more reliable and can be pushed even further by tuners, it won't take much to tune the R to 1000 hp, would it be reliable, probably not, but like you said, nobody would even try that on a 6.2 and that is my point as well, there are limits to everything.

Yeah, 6.2Ls can take some boost and live, but when we start talking 700+ HP, things like the cooling system really matter.

The S/C 5.2L making 750 HP is really making closer to 850 HP, when you consider what it takes to drive the blower at max RPMs. Easy 75+ HP is consumed by the blower.

Hey now, how dare you lol! The 6.2 is damn near bulletproof in factory form, but it certainly was never designed for forced induction. The 5.2 Predator is a beast; factory forged and hand built on the Romeo Niche line. I already know it will be much faster than a Gen 2/3.

Again, I’m on record as saying over and over and over that the s/c v8 isn’t coming in the Rap... Buuuuuuuut if it does, there would be ZERO excuses for a truck so empowered by Ford to not have a Frame, driveline, suspension and electronics not only up to the task, but, as with anything else bearing an F150 badge, able to haul as much oak or locust wood as you can pile in the bed in cold as bad as Nome and in heat of Death Valley, towing a trailer with the A/C blasting. On 87 octane no less. I’m skeptical on the last one, but Ford doesn’t skimp on testing the F150 to be ‘customer resistant’.

If such a truck were to come to market, it would have sorted suspension. That’s really what separates the Rap from the TRX.

Ford has practically ceded the market share to Ram in terms of having the “best starbucks drive thru island hopper” and now they’re left with a niche truck with a sound reputation to the few percent of off roaders who care, but that’s not enough to sustain them.

They need another Jen Juan starbucks queen to take that market share from the TRX.

This is my fear. They will never win the horsepower war and horsepower is how a huge number of their customers measure their manhood. I think hanging the Raptor label on a Bronco might a sign that Ford is planning to walk away from performance off road trucks altogether. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if there was no gen 4. Electric drag racer/Starsucks queen? Yah sure, you betcha. Build something that smokes the TRX at stoplights but sucks off road while making the tree huggers happy? It sounds logical.
