Isn't considered gambling (since purchase is required) and therefore illegal? I know that raffles happen all the time, but aren't those an exception since the proceeds go to charity and the prizes are donated? Not sure.

Besides it being a questionable/fake site, the Raptor pictured is clearly modded and likely to be used. Site is saying that the winner can choose Raptor +$10k or $50k. The Raptor is only worth $40k?

This guy is doing it for profit on the website. And I’m sure he magically chooses the winner, it might even be him!

Reading through the rules on his Web Site, it looks like he is not running it through a third party sweepstakes company like other places do. That’s red flag number 1. Number 2 is the lack of details about the truck and the fact it says it’s a 2019 when it’s really a 2018. He even replied to my question on the Facebook post about the truck. That’s where he says it’s a 2018 with 18,000 miles. Other than that no other details.

Non-profit or not, the rules for a raffle are the same. Also a sweepstakes is where you can write and request a ticket, not a raffle. It's a pain for us to manage as states change laws all the time. We've had to jump through some hoops to make them available online, and we have to limit certain states if the purchaser resides in that state. Our exec director has to hold the license personally, and we use a law firm here in town to help manage it.
