Why the ICON's over the fox 3.0 that rpg valves? I don't know much about the differences in suspension setups for the raptor, know the basics but what sells you on the ICONs over the rpg?

if you have not drove both it's just based on better advertisement. other wise I'm sure you would have to flip a coin. I like the stock shocks so I've only done field runs no big whoops.

Protection, now your talking. I was going to start a new thread on this. There isn't much on here (or at least in one spot) about protecting the raptor. Yeah, there is a lot about bumpers and wraps, but not much on skids, or other guards.

I'm hoping to get the ABS protectors before TRR and some hefty fab skids. What else should I be looking at? Shock protection??

The SDHQ ABS/Vacuum guards are only $60.
I ordered the ICON mid flaps package with the shock protectors for $80 more. That's $350 shipped.
I'm using AMSOIL for the undercarriage and engine compartment.

Definitely need a better skid plate down the road and maybe full length and probably stronger side rock guards eventually. Can't do it all at once though. Wish I could!

Is there some hard data about this somewhere, i think i remember someone talking about a shock comparison test.

It's even deeper than that. Some of these guys race their Raptors, work with vendors, test products, etc. That's why this is the best forum. Knowledge base is huge and varied.

I just found the shock comparison thread, it was locked, that really took a good premise and devolved quickly. This forum, while I love it, really has a knack for blowing up into knock down drag out **** measuring contests. I really am torn, I love the package setup that RPG provides and with the lineup of things i'm going to buy from them since i like their bumpers I may get a pretty good deal, but the UCA's with the ICON kit seem legit and their adjustability settings seem pretty user friendly as well.

so many variations it's silly tires, air pressure, weight, what kind of terrain your on, how old is the seat your sitting in, seat adjustment, excitement level, much more and of coarse shock, shock set up bump stops the list go's on. I would recommend trying a few different rids with different set up and just go with what feels right. have fun

I'd love to do that but I don't think there are that many folks near with aftermarket shocks, i'd love to go for a ride in one after another, its a shame i can't get to this years TRR.
