answers my questions, so where did everyone get their radio installed @? i could do it myself but im out of the country for a bit and rather have someone do it so when i get home everything is ready to go. im in OC area but i can have someone take my truck somewhere.

I did mine myself, but I could see how not being able to see your truck, let alone touch it, is going to make that difficult. Being in OC has a lot of advantages. I'd say half the vendors on this site, are OC based, including Outlaw Offroad, who owns RE. You could have the work done and shoot the shit about run requirements.

I got mine installed at a shop just off the 405 and goldenwest called 714 Motorsports (Westminster). They installed the radio inside the center console and then installed a jack on the driver side of the console for the mic when in use. I abandoned my center dash speaker and they wired the radio through it. Very clean install.

Both the radio and gps will change your life for these runs and while out with friends doing your own thing...

I know the feeling of the sticker shock but once you run with both you will ask yourself why you waited to long in the first place.

Personally I would get PCI to do it. They will get you set up with the correct ant. and tune it for you. Just tell them that you will be on Weatherman most of the time and they will optimize the setup for that Freq.

We run a permanent install in the truck but also carry a handheld in the door. That has come in handy more than once when the CoDriver was out of the truck directing the extraction of another rig. Just my 2cents.

Ours our set up with a PTT button and wired helmets so we don't have a handheld mic flying all over the cabin. That might be overkill for your first round of events but if you like the program, which my guess is a LOUD HELL YEA, then you will get there in time.

The Lowrance GPS allow for a very high number of points and detail that make if very good for this application. Having hold points marked for support, markers and cautions on trail all make for a safe fun event.

This is an example of a file Matt did for me for the "La Carrera Del Norte" 500 last year, and you can see routes, alt access roads to the route, road intersection, etc etc. Its just all real handy. The fun run files are set up a little different, and include cautions based on pre run info. VERY VERY important because a nice wide road can have a hidden washout around a bend that could catch you out without the advance notice.

Been on quite a few adventures with these guys and can't say enough about the support, good attitudes and fun times.

Well I guess if you called them and they said no, then there ya go. I brought them a rig with a radio/intercom installed somewhere else that did not transmit. We started on the phone but I could not get a signal at the correct wire so I brought it in and they pulled it, found the error, fixed it and reinstalled the system. The installer had cut the main wiring harness at the intercom to avoid having to fish the long cable and did not correctly reconnect all the wires.

On another rig we were not able to transmit very far and brought it to them. They determined we had the incorrect ant. installed. They installed a new one and then trimmed it until they were happy with how it was working.

Like you said, I have found them to be very helpful. I was unaware that they did not do installs.

let's put it this way, all the major offroad racing series' run the types of radios raptor expeditions requires and all of them use lowrance, if there was a better option out there for the specific requirements of offroad high speed running, you'd think they'd be running it, raptor expeditions requires the same to ensure utmost comfort, enjoyability, and safety for all their club members, would you want anything else with a club like this?

I use a magnet mount. I will go hard mount eventually, but the magnet mount works fine. Hopefully some of the guys who've hard mounted them can chime in.
