I just back from the dealer and got nothing fixed under warranty. They showed me what caused the IWE failure, understood and paid. Had them look at the plagued drive shaft clunking, blamed it on my HD leaf springs....

Intake, exhaust, RPG stage 2, wheels and tires. Those are the only things that have been modified that are parts of the drive line and engine.

I'd talk to someone that knows the laws for certain and see what you would have to do to prove that your mods didn't cause it. To me it's more the principle of them doing what's right and following the law, you may just want to drop it and pay it, but I would fight it just because the principle of it. Probably one of my character flaws I guess lol

Well....

The inspector stopped by College Station ford and decided not to warranty my truck because it's "modified." I asked which modification on my truck caused an axle shaft to fail. He said he couldn't answer that.

He then continues to tell me it's $2300 to re-build my rear housing. That seems steep for a few bearings, re-install, and fluid. Not to mention I have been talking to Hudlow axle to have 2 one-off axle shafts made. These will be stronger than stock.

I do need some info if anyone is willing. I need the journal bearing size and approximate length of the axle shaft.

Ford will be supplying the bearings and will be doing the repair.

This is a huge mess. My truck is in pieces 800 miles away and Ford continues to be relentless on cost, hassle, and headache. Not once have they called me with good news and just because they do not have any parts to repair it with, they have left it up to me completely to find info, parts and a manufacturer for them.

Does this mean you're going to change your name to uhaul custom embroidery???
