Do you like the 7.3?
Sure, seems to be proving itself as a great HD gas engine. Weighs as much as the old 6.2 yet without OHC; they’re built like a diesel. The 6.2 is gutless on the low end, which is why it wasn’t used in F-450/550, F-53/59, or F-650/750 applications. They still used the ancient V10 up until the 7.3. Once the smaller 6.8 was introduced the 6.2 was put out to pasture.

I agree with you it definitely isn’t worth it.
Until you drive one and then realize it’s 1000% worth it! The overall driving experience compared to every other Raptor that has been produced is second to none.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hating on other Raptor Gen’s or the 3.5HO Gen3, I’ve owned (5) Gen 1’s, (1) Gen 2, and (1) Gen 3 37 and love them all for what they are, but again none of them even come close to the R.

And honestly until you experience driving a R, you really don’t know what you’re talking about… You’re just talking…

But the thing is, you’re one of what.... 35 private owners? if that?

Mad respect for landing one, but let’s be honest, it’s like landing a Ford GT.
And it’s going to be for the foreseeable future. And despite what some Ford folks say, the minute Dodge axes the TRX, the Raptor R is cancelled one minute before. They never intended to put a V8 into the Raptor, they were shamed into it by Dodge. I’m glad Dodge did it and I never thought Ford would even do it, I only thought they’d talk about it.

Instead, Ford did something worse: they talked about it, pretended they were going to make it, but only make some pathetic number of Raptor R’s, so they could say they made a better off road truck that Dodge, but Ford isn’t even producing enough for race homologation in some production racing classes, heck they could now claim they’re a limited run manufacturer like Superperformance does with their GT40 replicas. Ford has basically pulled one of the biggest cons on the truck buying public in that last 25 years with the Raptor R. Sure, you can order it, but you are 99.5% likely to never see it.

So no, Eco Rap owners aren’t dumping their trucks for the v8 Raptor because the v8 Raptor is so limited in numbers as to be unobtainable. The delivery vs order rate is what? .05% ? I’m asking.

Jen Juan was a cool truck. Other Raptors are as well. Ford needs to do better.

The R is like "the Dude." It's good knowing he's out there, takin' her easy for all us sinners.

I tell you what though, I just made a late night run to town to get some reece’s peanut butter cups (don’t judge me) in my obsolete, antiquated, *************, slow, no power, e-series wannabe, low life, scum of the earth, ratty ass, shameful, terrible exhaust having, fedex banging, fleet loving, irrelevant, decade old **** box… and I smiled the whole time I drove it.

@Stormtrooper Don’t be daft, I just can’t afford it :patriot: It could come with a naked Halle Berry and it wouldn’t change the facts.
Not being “daft” you guys are making comparisons on the performance differences; my response was directed strictly towards the performance differences/comparisons between the Raptor Gen’s, not any one’s financial means or situations.

Your financial situation is your own personal business.

I just don’t understand why people make comments or try to justify that a R is not worth it, under the argument that it’s only 100-150 more HP than a Whippled Gen 1, when they have never experienced driving R. I have owned (2) Whippled Gen 1 ‘s, and (1) Roush Gen 1, all with the JDM 700 HP upgrade and tune, and I can tell you the R is still superior in every way, not just the engine. The driving performance with the 5 link suspension coupled with the 5.2 is second to none.

All good if you can’t afford a R, but don’t sit here and say that a Gen1 with a blower and tune is the same as a R, because it’s not.

Again I will always will love the OG Gen 1’s, especially the SCAB!
