Tagging... About to purchase one as well. Had V1's in the past and struggling to determine if I repeat or try something new

Yea pricing on the escorts has soared with more recent models. All detectors used to be ~$400 or under. My first V1 is 1998 was the same price it is today 20yrs later, not much has changed with it either though (in comparison oto other makers design changes). The $6-700 tag on newer escorts is brutal, but avoiding two city of chicago redlight camera tickets and ive made up that $2-300 price difference. Those cameras might not be as predatory in everyone else's community, but that feature carries a lot of weight for us.

Curious to hear more about the R3. Looks to have all the same features as the 360, minus the ****** Live User network.

i have the 360 on a mirror mount right now. word of warning, that sucker is pretty damn big, and does wobble a little, and with the small text and my 51 year old eyes, I'm not that happy with it.

I have had V1's in the past, but they couldn't allow me to lock out X and K band (where all the false alerts occur, especially around Chevy vehicles), and the constant buzzing drove me nuts.

My last Raptor had the hard mount ****** with the laser shifters and I loved that setup, but it was over 2000 installed. I might just do it again in this one.

as for the wire tapping, played with that as well - my recommendation is taking the wire down the fuse panel and not try to hotwire into the mirror taps. the voltage change can cause some funky things to happen with your cameras and dome lights.

you can have your V1 upgraded to the current gen and the filtering is just as good, if not better than anything else.

you can also get the bluetooth module and lock out bands via the app.

also, ALP systems will now integrate with V1 as well.

Any more info on the ALP systems people are using with it?

Whats the going rate for the upgrades? I did like that option, as my 2nd one died and no questions asked gave me the upgrade, which got me a new unit in the new slimmer case. Think it was ~$170 then.

Been running an ****** IX for about 4 months now...first GPS detector. The K-band suppression is excellent for real-world use, as is the lockout feature of fixed commercial radar. Have not even come close to a stationary/full-on Ka unit without it detecting, and even instant-on pops register before the vehicles are in sight.

It seems that you have a lot of experience with detectors.

The reason i'm leaning toward MAX 360c is the automatic updates, I like not having to do anything, simple convenience. Don't really care about the money if its a great unit.

Ordered the ****** Max 360c, thinking with the WiFi auto updates and new filtering it should be the best choice for me.

I just got my R3 last week, really liking it so far. I was a little concerned that I’d have a lot of false alerts but I’ve locked out the handful of stationary K band sources I’ve encountered and it’s been a really quiet ride other than a few timely long distance Ka alerts.

The only glitch I’ve encountered is that the mirror tap kit I got from RadarMount has the wrong jack, and I can’t find a customer service number to contact them to swap for an RJ11. Their mirror mount seems solid.
