What is the differences between the Escorts Redline, 9500ci & ix? I'm looking on Amazon and they all have the same price of $499, but it doesn't explain the differences. Of course, I'm blind and might not be seeing the actual descriptions.

Greg, That makes senses. I'm assuming those have the GPS feature to identify redlight cameras as well.

The ****** 9500ix has an internal GPS antenna and the Redline does not. The GPS antenna in the ****** 9500ix is used to give you advance notification of red light cameras and fixed speed cameras. It can also be used for the detector to mark and ignore false alerts by memorizing your GPS location and the frequency of the false alert.

None of those functions are available on the Redline but what the Redline does offer is different antenna which is a dual antenna and it offers better performance. When we say better performance it means you will have more time to react when an alert goes off.

The ****** Redline also is invisible to RDD's (Radar Detector Detectors) and if you travel through areas where radar detectors are banned (Virginiaor Washington DC and certain provinces in Canada) they can not detect the presence of your radar detector if you forget to turn it off.

So normally we would say if you mostly drive on the highway or travel through banned areas then the Redline would give you better performance and would be the better choice. If you drive mostly in the city you will definitely benefit more from having the GPS functions of the 9500ix making it much more quiet in the city.

This is all true. One thing I'd like to add is that the Redline also prides itself on having outstanding range. No GPS, invisible to VG2, and superior distance detection.

That being said, I love my Valentine 1 and the arrows. But my next detector/laser shifter combo will be the ****** 9500ci.

just about every radar detector has vg2, which is undetectable by the law enforcement, so the only problem you will have is actual visual detection of the unit.

the 9500ci also has laser shifters which the ix does not have. this "alters" the signal if the officer is using lidar. he will not get an accurate reading of your speed. keep in mind that this ONLY works with lidar

thanks greg, i should have been more specific about that. i figured out in the midwest, lidar is less frequently used

I live in a sparsely populated mountainous area, so the GPS functions of the 9500 were of little to no use to me. The Redline offers the best off-axis detection (around curves, over hills, etc), which was crucial for the mountain roads I drive most often.

I'm adding a Blendmount very soon, and I'll actually probably not leave the detector in the truck most of the time (short drive to work that I don't speed on - too curvy). I'll just pop it back on if I'm going anywhere further.

On the 9500 CI no need to tie it in too a switched location... You have the ability to mute with the press of the button on the remote... I have one and it works flawlessly. Nosbusa also runs one and is a delaer for them, they really are fantastic..

I think the reason for wiring to an upfitter was not to mute it, but to stop the laser jammer operation, after you slow the truck down.

I skipped jammers here - our cops can't afford lidar, and there are few places they can get out of the car & get a straight line of sight to get you.

Definitely talk to Busa when you buy one. My Redline came from him.

actually bloc, the double tap on the mute button on th 9500ci shuts down the shifters for 60 seconds. this allows you to pass the speed monitoring area and then turns on automatically after that time. it has saved my butt on numerous occasions haha.

Wiring to the upfitter for me, is to completely kill the system with a flick of a switch.. The main use of 9500ci is for the bullrun, a unique situation. Watch some of the bullrun videos with a cop every mile.. During those types of encounters it is better just to set the cruise and turn off the system and wait.. Especially, through Virginia...
