Those shifters don't work well enough to use. Some companies make good laser shifters/jammers but not ****** or VALENTINE. Save your money or buy a better product

I researched radar detectors pretty thoroughly about 6 months ago and went with the redline+****** live as it seemed to give you the benefits of the ix with the range of the redline.

IIRC the redline can pick up radar like 4 miles out while the ix max range is 1 mile. Or maybe it was 9 and 4. Whatever. With the redline I often get Ka alerts on the interstate and have to wait forever before I see the guy.

The ****** live service works great for locking out false alerts but you have to do it manually,which is fine. My problem with ****** live is that you have to have your phone connected via Bluetooth to the Live cord AND the app running on your phone for the lockouts to work. It's not as set it and forget it as I'd like. I've considered picking up an ix for town driving and just using the redline for highway, but then with the live cord I've got almost as much in it as I would if I ponied up for the ci.

Now I may be mistaken, and I just read through this whole thread and didn't see it mentioned, but the ci uses the same dual antenna as the redline, doesn't it? It's basically a mash up of the two detectors with laser shifters thrown in, so you've got the superior range of the redline with the GPS and auto learning for false alerts of the ix. Does it come without the shifters? Laser isn't used in ND.

I know the V1 makes a lot of noise but over all the brand has worked well for me since the early 90s.

Also Valentine does not make laser shifters, but you can pair anothter brand it with although they will be sepreate systems I believe.

It is propaganda and I have to call them out for this. Maybe I am an idiot, but common sense says their GPS explanation is an excuse for not having a GPS enabled unit. Rather than comparing feelings (like the gun control nazis like to do), lets compare facts. The ****** units mark a SPECIFIC frequency at a SPECIFIC location. It only locks out automatically after the exact same frequency is seen in the exact same location, and only if these are back-to-back repeated trips.

So lets say you are cruising down Main Street and a cop shoots you with K band (24.050–24.250 GHz range) at the specific frequency of 24.143 and the detector makes a note but alerts you. The next day you drive the same street and there is no cop. The third day there is the exact same cop with the exact same laser gun. Guess what? No lockout. How about if it is a different cop or same cop with a different gun? No lockout. the lockout only occurs when the exact same signal appears in the exact same location every time you go to that location. Even if a cop is sitting next to the drug store with the locked out x band door opener your detector WILL alert you to the officer's signal while leaving the drug store locked out. The GPS lockout is based on a signal fingerprint. Every radar signal is different. What is the chance that a cop can find a specific radar gun at the EXACT same signal, signal strength AND cause your detector to pick up that exact signal at the exact same location? Impossible.

Valentine1, in my not so humble opinion, is like a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Now I own a Harley Ultra and I love it, but there is next to no innovation in my motorcycle in 30 years. Yes, the motor is bigger, the tires are bigger, and now I have XM radio. But none of those demonstrate innovation. The V1 is much the same as it was 20 years ago. Arrows which add situational awareness are great but when the detector goes off non-stop it offers no real value because you just ignore the beeping.

It's great to be passionate about a product you use, and I am not knocking anyone for speaking up about what they know. But when you are considering buying a product take the feelings out of it. You bought a V1 because it made sense to you, fantastic. I hope it works for you. But for anyone considering any product do your own research and make your own informed decision. And don't believe everything a manufacturer tells you about their product and the competition's.

It's too bad the Redline doesn't have GPS technology. I'm doing some research that is showing that the ZR4 shifters that come with the 9500ci may not be able to block some of the newer guns like other jammers/shifters can. I love the built-in clean look of the 9500ci and the GPS functions, but since LIDAR and Instant On radar are my biggest threats today, I may need to rethink my planning.

Also, to RajunCajun37 who said earlier in this thread that LIDAR didn't work further than 800 feet, here's a video of one of the newest LIDAR products on the market. It's actually more like binoculars than an actual gun. It's called the Truspeed S and is one of the most sophisticated LIDAR devices on the market.

I really comes down to doing your research and buying what you feel will work the best. The opinions in this form are very valuable because it make you think outside the box, and I have a renewed interst to look at what is out there and may be coming out soon.

2nd, that reading at 1800 feet of the back license plate at 13 mph is a JOKE.
They get like 2 hits outta 20 tries from over 800 ft. I never said impossible, I said not effective and not consistant above 800. Ya video proves my point

Every churp you here that laser make is a warning for the ****** passport. You get so many warnings that you should have time to reduce speed by the time the LEO gets his lock. In traffic at 80 mph it's difficult to get a hit at 1500 feet. And only big cities are using the lasers due to cost. I've had laser hits in Houston, Fort Worth, Dallas, Jacksonville, Orlando, memphis and knoxville. I've never been hit by a laser in the state of Louisiana. Big cities mean heavy traffic and fast speeds. Laser is needed there due to these conditions. Cost is too high for most.

If the LEO tries me at 1500 ft, I'll get the warning BEFORE he gets his reading
80% effect under 800 ft, 20% effect over 800 ft. I'll play those odds. Here's the point, tell ya little cop friends to be patient and zap me around 800 ft or less so the odds are in THEIR favor. Cause right now, the odds are IN MY FAVOR
