I think there is a way to shut X band down. Go to the Valetine web site then go to V1 info scroll down to programing with the V1's Control knob, Scroll down and you will see in a table that it shows you can turn off different bands. Try that or look into the V1 connection and V1 Connection app.

Thanks for the advice. I did some digging and found this article.

How to Reprogram V1 Radar Detector

I'll be turning off my X-band today and will be increasing the responsiveness of the Ka-band detection.

Turned off X-band and increased Ka sensitivity. Worked like a champ. Easy to do and I definitely recommend every V1 owner do this unless cops actually use X-band in your area.

I've had some X-band and a lot more K-band in SE KS. I thought I had a K or X band in OK but might have gotten it mixed up with KS. Most at Ka band. But when my 9500 goes off I'm hitting the brakes very few false ones. Only thing that sets it off that it can't store is a weather ball that sends laser pulses every now and then thats it.

****** Passport 9500 xi with GPS.
Eliminate false signals either manually or automatic after 3 hits.
Speed camera, speed trap and red light camera warnings.
Mark locations with GPS like a speed trap.
Updates on software and camer locations.
APP with iPhone that sends updates from other drivers when they get hit.
You can get a warning and a map showing your location and the other driver's location and the cops location and what device they are using to read our speed.

This is high tech gear, the valentine 1 is a dinosaur. If you a country man driving long country roads get the V1. If you like 90% of real drivers get the ******. I'm running the 9500 xi. I haven't had a ticket in 10 years. I've done serious speeds in serious cities.

BTW, the laser jams or shifters will hurt not help. Rarely work and give over confidence. Buy laser products from a different company, one that works. The 9500 will alert when you get a laser strike. Lasers are effective around 800 ft. Cops like using them 1500 ft out. First strike gives you a few seconds to reduce speed before the guy gets a lock. He's aiming at your head lights and/or front tag. DON't run a front tag ;)
