Just got done driving 10 hours this morning from Gulf Shores, AL back to TX and must say that I cannot wait to get a 9500ci installed in the Raptor. So sick of the damn false alarms from the V1 especially from Audis/Porsches that have the K band light up like a Christmas tree from the K-band (POP) setup on the lane departure warning system. I know I could turn off the POP on the V1, but TXDPS love to use POP radar especially on my route from Houston to College Station.

Anyone know when exactly the patent for the directional capabilities on the V1 expires? I don't want to buy a 9500ci only for it to be outdated later this year.

Expired in 2011 I believe and noone has brought a new product out.

I am also a fan of my 9500ix and would recommend getting one.

I'd be okay with a 9500ix but LIDAR is used all over Houston and I need the added protection of the laser shifters.

Gotcha. But, will the actual display be different if they add arrows?

Also, do you know if the POP detection on the 9500ci react the same as the POP detection on the V1 to Audi/Porsche/BMW? To give you an idea, it goes crazy with multiple K-band detections from forward, beside, and behind for up to a half-mile behind the vehicle. It gets old and makes it impossible to distinguish a real threat in the opposing vehicle's presence.
with vehicles that have the radar built in, you will pick up the signal. when i notice its a european vehicle, i just press the mute button. it will block out that particular signal, but it seems to pick up new signal just fine even when i blocked the first one.

Oh gotcha...it works differently than the V1. The V1 mutes all sound not individual signals. Thanks for the heads up.

i was driving next to a mercedes that had the radar built into the bumpers. my detector went off making its normal beeping noise. i muted it, but around the next couple of corners there was a highway patrol sitting there with his rear radar on. the unit picked up the ka band and notified me of the new signal. i dont know about pop detection though. because it pulses k band, but i have a feeling that it should pick up the new signal

You know your V1 has 3 modes to help weed out false alarms? I always run in Advanced Logic mode since law enforcement around here doesn't use X band anymore.

Apparently the reason why the vehicles make it go off is because of POP. If you turn POP off on the V1, it won't give the false alarm, but you don't get the added protection that I need for my local DPS. With the V1, I'd still pick up and get a warning for a Ka band, but if it was another K band, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference from the European car.

Yes, I'm aware of the 3 modes. Mine is set to the big L mode, which is supposed to minimize false alarms, but I still get X-band even though it's not used anymore. I was able to completely turn off the X-band on my old ****** Solo S2, but the V1 doesn't give you that option.

I think there is a way to shut X band down. Go to the Valetine web site then go to V1 info scroll down to programing with the V1's Control knob, Scroll down and you will see in a table that it shows you can turn off different bands. Try that or look into the V1 connection and V1 Connection app.
