"there's only so many" applies to something that was built in the past and no longer built. The R is a current production vehicle that they produce more of everyday.
It's that mentality that has driven up prices the past 3 yrs.
It’s a current production vehicle with a very, very limited lifespan, and at this point it’s got production numbers along the lines of a limited run “homologation model” - something that’s produced solely to make the manufacturer eligible for some competition.
Only there’s no competition class for the RR. With prod #’s this low, there’s no chance retail prices will come down.
Obviously the china virus shutdowns are still rippling through Ford and Ford’s QC has a taken a huge hit across all models, Raptors included.
if they were easy to get, there would be one or more on every dealer lot.. there is not.
the R package is pretty exclusive, and yes its still in very limited production.. doesn't mean that any body can walk into a dealer and get one within a day or two.. there arent any trucks sitting around..
i don't agree with the dealer markups, its a gouge on their part, but these trucks simply are not to be found at MSRP unless you are someone like Cleetus McFarland that brought a big advertising aspect to the dealer where he got his truck, on referral from Vaugn Gittin jr..
how many R models do you suppose have been built each year? i think its less than 3000 units and that is very low production numbers for a very desirable truck, even at $110k..
Exactly, and Ford is talking out of both sides of their mouths publicly saying they will withhold F/P allocations for ADM chargers, but these same stealerships end up with multiple F/P models year, after, year after year.
So they have an asset that people want and want a lot.
One of two things will happen.
1) production will stabilize to normal levels making a modest - 5-10k overcharge more likely for the few MY left
2) RR production will dwindle away driving prices up further and they’ll eventually drop it.
The desperate, almost comical push to immature EV technology is costing Ford money hand over fist and is expected to for years to come and they’re banking that battery tech will improve enough to make the low range tolerable. If Ford continues to spend money developing this tech to a fool’s errand, there won’t be good money left for Ford Performance to put out stuff that people actually want.
