Gen 1 Reliability

Gen 1 owners: how reliable is your Raptor? I know it won't have much bearing on Gen 2, especially in the first model year, but I am curious how well a Raptor rates in reliability and build quality compared to a normal F-150. Are they solidly built or can I expect squeaks and rattles and other issues? Thanks.

They're built like tanks. I bought mine new in 2014 and have had mine for over 2 years. It's solid. The only rattle I have is my passenger seat rattles a bit when I don't have a passenger but that's normal as far as I know.

2014. 89k miles. No issues. None. Nada.

The Gen2 has some big shoes to fill in this area, so I hope Ford maintains the quality even though they will be mass-produced.....

Had my 2013 since 2012 w/73K miles now, no rattles. 2 huge things it had wrong, was a misplaced valve lifter. Had to tow to Ford under warranty, would not start. My sunroof mechanical parts popped out of place, sounded like someone fell on my roof, fixed under warranty.
Truck is solid and still comfy

I have 88k on my '12 and the only thing I absolutely hate about it is the excessive wind noise on the driver side front door. I can't get rid of it.
The rear sliding glass squeaked like crazy, but white lithium grease on the tracks fixed that up.

2011 80k miles both uca need replacement and brakes. Rebuilt shocks, Rear defrost doesn't work. Parking brake seized. That'd be about it. Love it.

2011 screw with 120,000 miles. *knock on wood* No mechanical or electrical problems. I had the shocks replaced because they were beaten to death.

The only thing that has not held up, was the rear bumper. It has started to rust a little bit. That being said, I don't really wash my Raptor (once every 2 months) and I live in an area where salt is used on the roads 5 months out of the year.

A few small issues. Power steering can be lousy when run hard off road, but a larger fluid reservoir fixes most of that I think. Overall great. Shocks have a short life span, but that's expected from a performance shock and can be rebuilt. The 4WD vacuum system is kinda poorly designed. Vacuum hoses can get hit and then the system partially engages. Other than that it really is great. If it was only driven on the street like most trucks it would have no issues whatsoever.
