Question about high miles and reliability.

Hiya guys. I'm still looking for that "perfect" truck for me and I had a question about High mileage and wear. Found some really nice 11's and 12's for what I would perceive to be a good price but they range anywhere from 60-90k miles. I do understand with a truck that young its probably highway miles but minimal wear and tear will still be present. Anyone have insight on high mileage Raptors and what is prone to be worn out (other than the obvious, brakes, tires ect)?

Kevin.

It's a Ford brother....not even broken in yet at those miles. If you find one you like you should be able to tell if someone took care of it or not. I have found reliable owners will have maintenance records, receipts etc showing upkeep and any warranty work performed. Also CarFax it. Good luck on the hunt!

82000 on mine and other than standard maintenance I had to have one ignition coil replaced. I'm happy.

with 58,000 on the clock, today I had my 2011 in the dealership shop for only the second time. The first time was to have the driveshaft replaced. Today it was an oxygen sensor. That's not a bad record.

'11 I had, had sunroof issues. Make sure you open and close yours on a regular basis or later on, you will have issues. Would've been $2500 to fix if it hadn't been covered under warrantee.

Third brake light leaked on mine. It was replaced under warrantee. Truck had a mildew smell after that.

I jumped the truck. A lot. The frame held up fine, but boy, could I tell a difference when I drove my '14 Raptor. The steering and chassis feels wayyyy tighter.

I had an engine tap issue with my '11. It's covered on Ford's TSB for that particular year.

I had the transmission shifting into gear hard on occasion. A few times a month. Nothing alarming, but it's an issue pretty widely known in this community.

Don't let anyone tell you that you won't have issues. Because you will. But I ramped up to a '14 because all of these issues have been corrected (save the sunroof binding, as I haven't heard anything about that). If you plan on jumping the truck on a regular basis (like me) I would suggest you look into the products available to strengthen the frame just so that everything stays nice and tight over the long run.

Good luck!
