I cannot see much difference between a 3.0 Fox and 3.0 King shock. Maybe there is on internals, but how many of us Raptor owners are really going to be able to tell a difference. For extreme off road racing needs maybe there is a slight advantage for one brand or another. It boils down to the old Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge arguement. Some are Fox supporters, some are King supporters, and then there are the Icon supporters.
Your statement has ALOT to do with it.

There is a big difference between a 3.0 monotube and a 3.0 twintube though. A 3.0 twintube only creates the damping force of a 2.5 monotube.

A 3.0 twin-tube has a tube inside the shock where the piston is located. The inner tube is only 2.5 not 3.0. The larger the piston, the more potential damping force it can provide. The outside diameter of a twin-tube shock may be 3.0 but the internal bore size is only 2.5. A 3.0 twin tube and a 3.0 monotube are not comparable.

So are you saying that the Fox 3.0 is a twin-tube and the King 3.0 is a mono-tube, and therefore the King shock is better?

Sorry still trying to make sense of this. Are you saying that the Kings have a 3.0 mono tube which makes them better then the Fox because it has the twin tube that produces less damping?

I'm saying that twin tubes have a smaller bore for the same outside diameter. The larger the piston diameter, the more damping force you can generate. That's why the trophy truck teams are all going to 4.5's. The drivers say that they are going just as fast or maybe a little faster but it's a lot easier to control. They are not so much on the ragged edge.

Holy crap we get that part! Just want to know who has the larger bore Fox 3.0 or King 3.0.
In other words which one is better in your opinion the Fox or the King. You did not state which one has the bigger bore but I am assuming its the King?

I think it's not even that. It's the confusion caused by bringing it up in context of Fox vs. King.

So if someone would please clarify that little tidbit, I think we could let this die.

I can only assume that the Fox 3.0 is a twin-tube like the factory shock, I don't know. Maybe someone who has one can confirm. If that's the case then the monotube 3.0 (King) would have a larger piston diameter than the twin-tube 3.0 (Fox). I don't want to get into a King vs Fox argument, just looking at it from a technical standpoint and sharing what racers have told me. They say bigger is better!

Thanks pappawheely for clearing that up just wanted to know which shock you were referring to.
I agree its best not to make it a Fox VS King for comparison because some people get all weird about that.:rollfro:
