I know it has been asked in the past about what wiper blades to use and how often to change them, and I'm trying to make a more educated decision based upon where I live which is in NJ.

Since we get a mix of all types of weather from a severe winter to no winter at all and the same with summer weather

I normally go with a middle of the road brand and change them every 6 months. The last pair that I bought roughly 5 months ago are going bad already with streaking and making noise, I always use the washer spray when I turn them on since using them dry is the number one killer so I have been told. But you would think that $40.00 blades would last longer than 5 months with a garage kept truck.

Any thoughts on what has worked for you? It's not about the money, it just seems that they should last a little longer than that

I live in the Texas panhandle so I go months at a time without using my wipers and I’ve been getting about 2 years out of a set of michilens or rain-x brands. My vehicles are parked indoors at night and on weekends so I think that gets a little extra life out of them too. I’m with you though if they are streaking I’d be replacing them. I can’t stand streaks or squeaks.

I agree with the posts above regarding the streaks and squeaks drive me nuts and the UV rays eat them up too. I looked on Rain-X`s website and they have 12 different models of 22' wiper blades available for a 18 F-150. I was thinking aboUt going with a set of the winter blades for 6 months and changing over to ?? for the next 6 months. I would like to hear what others have tried. I may poke around on the TireRack site and see what they have to say

I get Bosche Icons every Fall. I’m in Pittsburgh. If winter chews them up I’ll get new ones in spring too. Didn’t really drive much so didn’t bother this year. Usually I just do it when I notice them streaking.

I use the factory blades only and always use rainx on the windshield, I always wipe my wiperblades clean with a soft cloth as this removes dirt which cracks or nicks the blade edge. Seems to last at least 3 years per set.

I have used Rain-X ones from Walmart and liked them fine too. They’re coated with rainX so they treat the windshield at first too. That’s what’s on my Cadillac which sees around a thousand miles a year and sits in the garage otherwise. It gets new blades every 3-4 years probably

Put plastic bags over your wipers when its sitting that long, they will stay nice and fresh and you shouldn't have to replace them. I haven't changed the blades in my Mustang in over a decade, but then again I try not to drive it in the rain.

I hear you but I don’t like to admit that it’s that much of a garage queen lol.

I only total about 5k across my car, truck and two motorcycles but I do try to spread it somewhat evenly.
