So I see for just 2 bucks you can get the grade 8 Armor coated bolts versus the stainless steel bolts. I am no nut and bolt expert but that looks like a pretty cheap up grade to me. Any thoughts?

Also, can these fit on the front as well as rear diff?

Are we talking about the diff girdle, if so I emailed them asking for the height of the cover, have a feeling if you can get it in there, you won't be able to tighten the load bolts, not much room between cover and rack.
if I don’t hear from them tonight, I'll have to call tomorrow.

I guess the one caveat would be to make sure you follow the instructions that come with your aftermarket cover if you get one for the rear as it will vary if different fasteners are provided with the cover. The Mag-Hytec F12-9.75 rear cover instructions state 16ft-lbs and it uses stainless Allen head bolts rather than the stock bolts which is significantly less than the factory 33lb-ft from the Ford Shop Manual.

Ford Shop Manual states 24ft-lbs for the front cover bolts although there's not much difference between 24 or 25.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you use an aftermarket cover and/or fasteners and they state something different from stock than go with that.

Good point. I have not installed the "half Spider" so I don't know if the instructions give a torque poundage. Nor do I know if the different fasteners have different torque ratings. Perhaps some of the folks that have installed can tell us!

Anyone out there tell me the size of the Hex Bolts I have to remove to install the Rock Guard so I don't have to crawl under the truck with a hand full of different socket sizes???

Hey guys so I ordered the full spider cover a few days ago. I had a quick question as you can see in the pic I took there is some sort of cable attached to one of the bolts on the diff. I have not seen this on anyone of the pics that are in this thread. Does anyone know what this is and what I should do with it when I install the cover? Also as you can see I need to do some painting under there. My diff looks like shit. I'm going to wire brush it real good and paint it before putting on the cover.

Mine looks the same way, rust I mean. It is only 5 months old and the diff looks like crap. I plan to paint the diff prior to installing my half spider.
