Since the ring on the double standards does not come off i could not have it powder coated. i went for the next best thing i could that would look clean and still be durable. I started the process by removing all bolt and washers from the wheels (i believe it was 24 a wheel) Next, i went looking for an auto body shop that did good color match and had good ratings, found a guy locally who charged 45 a rim. He did all prep work and paint. as for the bolts i just stuck them in cardboard and then used a matte black spray paint and let them dry for a few days. when i got the rims back i screwed all the bolts in then just took a socket and tightened them and the paint didn't chip, of course i was very careful with it.. today, i had the wheel buried to the ring in some sandy/rocky dirt and they have no damage to them so far. so the paint with clear coat seems to be holding up.

thanks,
Jeff

Thanks For the explanation Jeff. Being a powder coat newb, are you saying that you can't mask off a portion of the wheel for powdercoating?

@dataustin

trust me I'm a noob myself! thats what i was told by multiple people, supposedly its possible but requires more work and I'm guessing a bit more money. my original plan was powder coat , however this is nice also because it is an exact match
