Just had mine cleared for the 3rd time. There doesn't seem to be a "fix" as of yet, but mine has only come on during off road with elevation increases. Just looking for similar triggers out there. While also giving it a thorough ringing out too. Also got an over boost code this last time as well. 24R 5k miles.

I got the code after 500 miles, cleared it, and so far it hasn't come back (1,000+ miles later with hard driving and off-roading.)

SOLVED - I HAVE FIXED THIS ISSUE ON MY 24' RAPTOR R - PLEASE SEE PDF FOR ALL PHOTOS DUE TO ATTACHMENT LIMITS

Hello Everyone, I never really post anything here as I'm a bit of an introvert, but could not let this persist. As it seems, I've had this issue as well and I have found a solution based on the science, but furthermore, I have not had the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL/CEL) Check engine light since this solution. I really hope that this helps you all as well, and I've included a word document that details EXACTLY what I did after taking my truck to the dealer for weeks, with no actual method of correction in sight. It seems that the issue we are having is much more related to how efficient this truck is, and how High Performing Ford has engineered the engine for 24', which may be a result of the 20hp increase. I have never experienced this problem on my Gen 2, or Gen 3 37pp, that I owned before the 24 R'. I've taken each of my trucks across the country from Miami, FL, to Moab, UT, Tacoma Washington and back off-roading and overlanding.

I hope this helps you guys and I thought I would share with proof that I have not seen a CEL after the correction, yet my mileage has increased and the engine performs at peak. Download the word document, and it details EVERYTHING including the Ford Performance Parts with Part Codes to help everyone out.

Sorry guys, I am a Scientist who loves a scientific method, so bear with me as I explain the problem to the best of my knowledge leading to the resolution and result.

Problem – Over Engineered for 2024 & Highly Efficient

  • The 2024 Raptors (720hp) has a reengineered intake that assist in producing the 20 additional Hrsepwers (Horse Powers and I like to call them) which makes the engine exceptionally efficient which currently in its stock form, seems to present the issue.

  • 1730566319240.png
Problem Background – PC 2C90 – Low Crankcase Ventilation / Pressure
  • Under low loads, 3 degree or more incline, or rapid deceleration, drops the crankcase pressure which presents the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) also known as a Check Engine Light (CEL).
  • This is a solid (CEL) which indicates the truck is drivable (Minor), as compared to a blinking (CEL) which tells you that you may be able to operate the vehicle at a lower speed (Serious).
  • I would get this light daily going into work as there is a steep parking garage.
  • Once reset, the truck goes about it’s usual routine until the condition exists again.

What causes this condition (PC 2C90) – Low Crankcase Pressure / Crankcase Pressure Line Disconnected

  • Typically boosted engines (Supercharged Systems) produce large amounts of pressure that may cause the crankcase pressure to build. This is common for any high-performance engine.

  • However, Ford and their Wizardry has engine this truck to do the opposite, preserving the engine and therefore low pressure is what most high-performance engines seek to have.

  • For more information on Crankcase Ventilation review this video.
  • Our engines are actually over performing and evacuating the gasses to alleviate high-pressure, which drops the pressure, especially at low engine speed.
The Good Problem of PC2C90 – Low crankcase Pressure / Crankcase Hose Disconnected

  • The Science - Low crankcase pressure can indicate that an engine is in good condition. A crankcase pressure sensor monitors the pressure of the engine oil in the crankcase and signals a warning if the pressure falls below a minimum level.

  • What does this mean?
  • We need to slightly increase the Crankcase Pressure so that the low PCV (CEL) balances and does not significantly drop the metered air into our engines.

How do I Fix This? Scientific Method

I reviewed my entire system and from revieing the CEL daily, I have not seen this light in Weeks in any condition. Is it fully resolved, for my truck it is (I’ve maxed out the engine, jumped the truck, had it on significant inclines/declines on left and right banks.)

This may work without the aftermarket intake, so try the URP Catch can process first, then purchase an intake if it continues. I’ve only had an aftermarket intake since purchase so I do not know what the stock process would be.

*****My 24 Raptor R ONLY HAS THESE MODIFICATIONS*****

I am unable to confirm if this will work with any other parts, this is EXACTLY how I resolved my issue. All links are here. Post made in 11/02/2024, these links may remain viable.

AFE Track Side Intake

UPR Catch Can (with these specific parts):

  • UPR Single Side Catch Can

  • Add Clean Side Separator – YES - REQUIRED
  • Add Billet One-Way Crankcase Breather?: NO - DO NOT PURCHASE
  • Add Billet Pro Series Check Valve?: YES - RQUIRED
  • Add Catch Can Drain Line Kit?: YES - REQUIRED
  • Add UPR SS Magnetic Drain Plug?: NO - YOUR CHOICE BUT I PREFERE THE DRAIN HOSE
  • Add Catch Can Replacement O-Rings?: YES - YOU WILL NEED THESE LATER
  • Add Clean Side Separator Replacement O-Rings?: YES - YOU WILL NEED THESE LATER
****BEST INSTALL VIDEO****

YouTube - Knights Garage - 2021 - 2023 F150 W/ 5.0 UPR catch can install

I have included the photos after the install (purchase replacement parts below in case you want to revert to factory), and everything is straight forward. When you purchase the Intake, it will arrive with the Driver Side (Intake) PCV Intake tube removal. The section next to the engine will need to be cut off.

For the clean side, pull back the sheath so that when you sit it on the valve (plastic tube), you push it down and it clicks in place. Just like an Air Chuck.

REPLACEMENT PARTS FROM FORD

****Before you do this, purchase the following parts from FORDPARTS which are the direct replacements: **** CHECK PDF FOR ALL PHOTOS

INTAKE SIDE:

  • Hose – Black & Orange (6758 in Photo) – Use the tool on Intake, Cut off Head near engine.
  • Valve on Engine – Black – 6767 in Photo

  • EXHAUST SIDE:
    • Hose – Black & Blue – 6A664 in Photo (Press Clips to remove)
    • Valve on Engine (Blue) – 6A666 in Photo – Twist Counterclockwise to Remove

      TESTING:

Go out and drive your Raptor as normal, Test it at different speeds angles, etc. However, the Crankcase pressure will be balanced with better flow on both sides which should have fixed your issue. The check valve on the exhaust side is now one-way so it will not allow a pressure decrease on the exhaust side causing the CEL.

***I tested the kit with just the exhaust side and the CEL came back. This solution requires both CLEAN and EXHAUST***. This may also work with just the UPR PCV hose’s which are Higher Flow as compared to the PCV stock hoses.

Engine Bay – PLEASE GET A YELLOW TOP OPTIMA – YOUR ELETRICAL AND SPARK PLUG SYSTEM WILL BE MORE RESPONSIVE

      UPR Clean Side Catch
      1730566510874.png

UPR EXAHAUST SIDE – ARROWS MUST GO TOWARD ENGINE ON CHECK VALVE
    • 1730566528346.png

    • I HOPE THIS HAS FIXED YOUR RAPTOR AS IT HAS BEEN THE CONSTANT SOLUTION FOR ME. ENJOY THE PERFORMANCE AND YOUR TRUCK.
