Grinding noise

2017 Screw 13300 miles , started making an intermittent grinding noise on the freeway. Started after I was pushing through about a foot of snow. Took it to ford and they replaced a right front speed sensor. Seems to have fixed the problem

Basically, they did not have much to add other than the 'Customer Rep" could see my dealership was requesting a transmission replacement and that the dealer was working with the Regional Manager to get this approved.

The 'Customer Rep' created a second case file where the Regional Manager would be contacting me directly. The person I spoke with was not sure what the hold up is/was.

The service adviser manager at my dealership was completely on board with me calling 1-800-Ford to see if it could "speed" things along. The Regional Manager is supposed to be calling/emailing me tomorrow before 8 pm.

I'll keep you updated. If this gets fixed I am at least pushing for a transferable warranty beyond the 5 yr/60k for drivetrain. This will be a reasonable stain for resale/trade in the future.

I finally picked up the Raptor today. They replaced the transmission and put on a new oil pan/gasket and changed oil with new filter. The dealership even detailed the inside and outside of the truck. The dealership was top notch. Ford as a company was another story. It felt good to be back in the truck since not driving it since 12/19/17. I was without the truck for 40 days or 33 business days for Ford.

It's going to take some time to trust this truck again. I have the Livernois tuner but will give the transmission ~1000 miles before installing. I can finally start doing my Forscan changes too.

The Ford Regional manager never bothered to call me back after talking to Ford Customer Service ~2 weeks ago.

Not really, started again this weekend, back at ford.
sounds like its trying to lock a hub or something in the front randomly while on the freeway.

Sorry to hear about that. So your trans went out? Were you running the Livernois Tuner?

My 17 had these issues in 9k miles I owned it.

oil pan leaks (fixed)
waste gate actuator rattle
Trans smell on two occasions
squeaking leaf springs
parking brake cable rubbing on leaf springs (18s do this also)

I think ford fixed many of these issues in 18 but the oil pan is getting redesigned yet also

Transmission never “went out”. There was a leak in the transmission case bolt where the transfer case attaches. Needed a new transmission case but that part does not exist, hence an entire replacement.

The livernois tune had NOT been installed.

Hey you got it back! I feel your pain and I’m only three weeks as of tomorrow waiting on parts after two missed timeframes. After the repeated delays, I’ve requested a new transmission at this point rather than a rebuild.

I agree that that the regional managers at corporate are pretty useless. Mine did call back, but other than placing a “rush” request on the parts that my service/parts manager had already done, she hasn’t done anything other than keeping in touch with my dealer. I informed her late last week that I was now requesting a new transmission as the parts never arrive as scheduled. She informed me that she does not have the authority to approve of such decisions and it was up to the dealer and warranty department... Not quite sure what the point of having a corporate regional manager if they can’t approve or speak to the warranty department on your behalf.

I know and feel your pain. I could smell burning transmission fluid this morning but did not see any leaks. I am hoping it's residual fluid on the exhaust.

I hope you get your truck soon.

Yep. And it's been grinding the shit out of your IWE, no doubt. All but guaranteeing a future 4WD failure (no doubt when you need it the most). Really a second rate system.
