I ordered mine from Amazon: Waterproof Rocker Switch 3 position On-Off-On : Amazon.com : Automotive
They have all kinds of Mercury Switches on there as well. I'm just not that fimilair with how to mount them to work.

All do NOT get the waterproof rocker switch I listed in the above URL. I just got bit today and it is way to big. I am looking at other alternatives now and well list it once I find a good source.

you basically just cut the ground wire and this goes in between it.

Not sure why I didn't think of this before, but just a straight hood switch would work best. If hood is open it's on, closed it's off. No worries. Basically just plug ground wire from light into it and mount. Just make sure to mount on the body so it's a good ground.

Let me get this right the white power wire from the light still goes to the battery and black ground wire straight to the pin switch since it will be ground to the chassis when mounted in place. When you open the hood it fully open completing the ciruit. Is that right?

Yes sir, you are absolutely correct! Kind of wished I'd gone this route, just for a clean installation. Switch works and only takes a second to click it, but would be better with no switch or hole.

Why not just use the hood switch already in the truck?

Going to answer my own question, because the hood switch is only found in trucks with remote start. On a 2012 it is a push pin type switch, not a mercury type.

worse than that because the switch with the remote starts cuts off the power when the hood is up

Does it seem to be a strong/quality switch that can take off road abuse?

Looks great guys! I love the ingenuity of this group!

One question, did I see a relay near the switch by the battery? Is that for this project? If so, we one, and why, did you get?

Thanks again for everyone's hard work.
