Hi All,

New raptor, less than 2 weeks old, and I'm getting an occasional metallic pinging/rattling noise from underneath. It almost always happens during the first few minutes of driving the truck from a cold start, and sometimes after I've been idling for a little while. I'm 99% sure it's the exhaust because if I tap the front or back of the tips I'll hear a single ping from underneath the truck. I also hear the noise if I shut the front doors hard. Problem is I can't determine exactly where it's coming from. The heat shield seems to be tight and isn't contacting the exhaust at all. I'll go to the dealer if I have to, but I don't really have the time and would like to avoid the hassle of taking it in if it's a simple fix so...any ideas what the problem might be or where I should look?

Thanks!

I had a similar rattle before. The tailpipes were hitting up against the leaf spring. Fix that problem when I put my borla stinger cat-back on lol

While I loved the sound of the Borla ATAK on my mustang, I'm thinking I might not like the deafening sound of an aftermarket exhaust on this truck...if there is a milder alternative to the Corsa, Borla, SSW, and Flowmasters I've seen in the videos I just might consider this route!

As for the O2 sensors...I'm a bit of a rookie. Where are they located and what should I look for? Thanks!

Yeah, still making the noise...although it seems to do it a bit less, maybe due to the warmer weather?

Any way this could be the trans? I thought I had it pinned down to the exhaust, but it seems to be solid everywhere. The o2 sensors sound very likely after googling and seeing others with that problem...just need to find them all and check. Also, should I pull each sensor out and check it, or just make sure they're all tight?

I just noticed a clunk sound in the front end when going over speed bumps, and also I'm hearing leaf spring creaking now! 8,000 miles on it.

Doubt it helps, but I ended up taking mine into the dealer. The heat shield needed repositioning  but it hasn't made the noise since.
