Hey don, I didn’t realize how strong the mount blue ox sells is...it’s strong enough to use as tow points with straps and such...cool!

I thought about the lateral forces. Originally I wasn’t going to have the cross bar at all, just mounts on each hook. I added the cross bar to tie both sides together. So, for example when it pulls to the right it’s pulling on both tow loops....I can’t imagine that could fail.

Even so, I’m using 2 10k each rated safety cables that go from the frame on each side to the mount cross bar then to the RV.

I haven’t gotten to test it yet since the RV I bought is in Florida. Heading down to drive it back next weekend.

The kicker here is the white 2018 raptor in the pics I traded in yesterday, and picked up a new magnetic 2020 raptor. So I’ll fit the bar to that.

I was going to buy a Red Raptor, my favorite color, but after seeing the Magnetic, I liked it better. I really like that the fender flares are a similar color (subdued).

I was going to get a black on, but they couldn't find one. Now that i got the magnetic im glad i did. Just hate the wheels...ordered some methods all black.

@kpecks @jzweedyk Do the front end of your trucks not get nailed with rocks and debris kicking up from your motorhomes?


Mine does not. The truck sits up pretty high and is pretty close to the back of the coach, minimizing the rise of most rocks. To be safe, I installed some 3m PPF on the entire front end, just to be safe.

My motorhome has a shield that hangs. Comes on it stock. Nothing shoots up and hits the raptor. Then again, I trade my truck in every 2 years, always get good trade in value, and treat it like a truck. It’s going to get hit by branches and rocks. Not worried about it unless I start to see substantial differences in trade in value vs other raptors. For me it’s usually high mileage that affects my trade. A few scratches don’t seem to have any affect.

FYI, 2500 miles towing with my bracket, some off road, and a few panic stops. Still tight.

I completed a little project the other day. I wanted to keep the tow hook look, even though I replaced them with base plates for a tow bar. I cut up the hooks, welded them to some tubing that fit my base plates and now I can install them with one bolt, when I'm not towing the truck. The reworked tow hooks are cosmetic only, not strong enough to be used for pulling. If I had the need to pull something or have the truck pulled, I can install the tow bar mounts which are quick release but good to 10K.

So when you pull in with that set up you are saying "WDFA".
Haha. I mean, I do my best to not use that language or have that kind of attitude, esp around my kids. I don’t want them growing up thinking like that. But ya, it’s a sweet setup and is a lot of fun to roam around in. My wife likes her comforts....
