Sorry I stepped away for a few days from commenting on this thread... I've tried to get over the issues I have with this thing by living with it for another week or so and have taken a few long trips and used it around town a bunch, but I've decided it's just not worth it and I'm done trying so it's coming out tomorrow and getting returned. Sync 3, along with my phone mounted just above the middle-left air vent is easier, smoother, faster and virtually hassle free.
I switched the display setting to high and the console image improved a bit, but it's still not quite as clear as it was stock.
I've noticed on a number of occasions that when my console is up that my OEM nav location is off and struggling to follow me, so there's some issue going on there that was never present before also.
I've tried split-screening a few things, and while a lot of them work, it's too much of a hassle because you have to set it up every time you shut the truck off and then back on. When I try to split-screen the Console and Waze it won't even let me and says the app doesn't support it when trying to select Console. Not sure how Robert got his Console to do it...
Using the skip buttons on my steering wheel does have some odd effects, but I don't use them a ton so I've never pinpointed exactly what's happening.
I've never seen my airbag lights turn on either.
If the unit was more customizable I might be willing to keep it, but I'm not convinced that's going to happen. I think it really needs the following changes made:
1) Be able to modify what is on the top menu by adding or deleting icons, or at least selecting what app certain buttons activate. They obviously can do that, since you can select which navigation app it defaults to.
2) When the truck is turned off and back on, it needs to remember it's last state like your phone or any other tablet does when you turn off the screen.
3) Be able to disable Bluetooth on the tablet.
4) Make better use of the space at the bottom for manual AC trucks.
5) Allow a true Android notification bar at the top.
6) Allow a true Android home screen so that app widgets can be used.
7) Obviously, use a faster processor, more memory and a higher res screen.
There are probably a few other things I'm forgetting but I think that's plenty for now and enough to make up my mind. If you're truly happy with yours and it works for you then that's great, but it doesn't operate nearly as well as I expected and want it to and I think I've given it a fair shake. Hopefully my thoughts on it will help others avoid being disappointed and make a more informed decision.
