...wish I could find someone in Illinois or Indiana that could do the perch adjustment (and know what they are doing)

That video really sums up the process pretty simply. I've replaced struts on my current truck where you had to remove the entire coilover. Take all the compression out, move the spring, put the new strut in, retighten, reinstall. It sucked. Never want to do that again, but this method, even with hand tools, is doable! Watch the video a couple times and you should be able to do it. Save the $300 for some other goodies!

Also, if you're not comfortable doing it alone, find someone local to you, using the regional FRF forums, and perhaps another member would be willing to help you out!

Reading up on the mid - perch, it seems like it's all positive. Is there any negative
to doing it? If not, why doesn't Ford do it that way from the start? That would
give owners the choice of going down one or up one. Just curious.

Everyone on here has said no negatives. The only negatives I've heard is from the chief engineer Jamal Hameedi who said he wished they wouldn't have the option to adjust the shocks. Top perch is bad for the 2012/2013s but I've yet to hear someone say don't do mid perch. I still wonder if there's just a little extra strain on cv joints, etc but not enough to cause any problems in the short term (or ever?). Anyone else want to chime in???

For people that have AutoZone's around them, you can go and rent those spring compressors that RPG used in the video from them. It's not too expensive and you get all your money back as long as you return them to the store within a week or something.
