Okay, so I've got a new set of "combat boots" coming for my Raptor and they're just enough of a size increase that I know I'm going to have to go to Mid-Perch to avoid rubbing while off-roading. That being said, I've read through the various mod threads and am fairly confident this is well within the range of my mechanical ability to accomplish. Right now I'm debating on which method to use to get this done. Shocks on or off the truck?

Too me, it looks like it would be easier to just take the shocks off, do the mod, and then put them back on, however, I'm not sure if I have all the tools I would need to do this. Because of this I'm leaning towards doing the mod with the shocks still on the truck. I'm not opposed to buying tools when needed, but at what point does it become cost prohibitive? For example, I thought I saw somewhere that one bolt needed to be torqued to 400ft/lbs. To get a wrench capable of that would cost almost as much as having a shop just do the mod for me. Leaving the shocks on the truck during the mod would save me this cost.

So what, tools (specifically) are required to do this mod?

One way or the other, I know I need spring compressors (and while I know I can rent them for cheap/free, I'll probably buy a set because I could see these being used again one any a number of other projects.) Any recommendations in the $50-100 range. Here's the set I was looking at on Amazon. Would these work/fit with the shocks still mounted to the truck? I've seen it recommended to have three compressors to stabilize the shock better during compression, but would it be necessary since these have a lock pin?

Anyway, I'm sure I'll have other questions as my tires get closer to showing up, but this should keep me occupied in the mean time.

I found this on you tube....

does it with the shocks on the truck.

Took me maybe an hour using the rpg video. That's not including my ratchet breaking and having to go get a new one. Lol

Took me nearly 3 hours, but that included me running to the store twice. Once for bigger jack stands, and second time for a better ratchet strap cause mine couldn't support the weight of the spring? I work slow, but I did it better than the dealer would have. Also I just unscrewed the nuts on the tie rods since I couldn't get them to pop out. They didn't really get in the way when I did it. If I had to do it again I could do each side in about 30 minutes.

Next day dealer approved alignment under warranty, but their shop alignment machine couldn't handle the stock tires. So they paid for another shop to do it under warranty. Worked out pretty well!

Adjusting headlights took only 10 min. I found a video on the my ford website that shows you how. Very simple FYI
