Just did mid perch and it wasn't bad. Free rental of McPhearson strut compressors at local auto parts store.
Some people were worried about the units slipping, so I used cable ties to lessen any velocity if they slipped. I tried the compressors at the front of the shock buckets but it only compressed one side of the coil.

Like RPG's video had to take one apart and feed the clamp end up inside the shock tower in the back corner.

I found the best way to hold the coil in the tower was a C clamp at the top.
Then drop the A arm with the jack and expose the mid groove

Here is a picture of the set screw, enough room to move snap ring, perch and put set screw back in.

And like others have said, it drives much better, no nose dive and the control feels much improved.
