That’s a big nut. For $5k, my wife and I can fly to Dublin, bus it up to Lisburn and pick up a bike for the week, jog back down and catch a ferry to the Isle of Man, watch the TT for a week while staying at a B&B. grab a ferry over to Liverpool when done with the fortnite, check out England and Scotland for a few days, head back to Ireland, drop off the bike, and fly home.

Or I could fly to Switzerland with the wife and we could explore the various Alps passes for a few weeks.

Or to put this in Raptor terms:

That’s about 4 changes of tires.

Or a chase rack, extra spare, a jack, some recovery gear and a really fun off road trip.

Don’t pay over MSRP.

My wife needs to speak to you about being our travel agent, because $5K travel budget certainly doesn't go that far in my house.

I found a dealer in my area who is taking orders on Thursday for $5k over MSRP. I really want this vehicle ASAP but my husband is balking. Does this seem reasonable to you guys?
I found one that sells 2k msrp and two out of state that will do msrp and drop ship. Only cost would be sending back my '19 one. 2k is close to justify paying it if you had to get tickets and go pick it up from a few states over. 5k is nowhere near close enough. You can combine that 5k saved with time off to pick it up and drive it through some states.

A $70K MSRP Raptor might have a $65K invoice, and invoice is not the true cost to the dealer. They’re already making money even selling at invoice via holdback, manufacturer incentives, etc. Try to negotiate near invoice. Never pay MSRP. Don’t leave your hard earned money on the table.

I like paying invoice. But obviously I can’t be first in line.
if this is the truck you want, need a vehicle like very soon. And you have that extra money to pay above MSRP, then do it. Plenty of dealers will continue to do this as long as they can. With the chip shortage and less sales taking place. It’s going to be make up money I have not made and over price a hot item like the Raptor. Sucks but not much we can do, unless you can wait.

Offer 300 over invoice. That’s what I’ve paid for my gen1 and Gen2. As I’m sure many have said don’t contribute to the higher than mspr market!!!!

For some, $5000.00 is a **** in a bucket. For me I wouldn't do it. $5,000.00 is a chunck of change for me personally. I know several very wealth people with more cash than just about anyone on this forum will make in 2 lifetimes and not one would pay over MSRP unless they were trying to show off. They didn't aquire thir fortune by making poor buisness decisions.

The debate will go on regarding if you should or shouldn’t pay the dealer markup. The previous poster that said if you have the money has some truth to it. 5k is different to everybody depending on their financial situation.

But as to if a 5k markup is reasonable.. I remember looking at new body style f150s in 2015 when they first came out. The dealer in my town had a 10k markup. That was 6 years ago and prices in general are much higher than back then, so as a percentage, it seems reasonable. If it’s worth it or not, that’s personal.

Supply and demand at its finest, and I don’t see supply of Gen 3s outpacing demand anytime soon. Rates are low, people are able to get low cost loans or buy them outright. Lots of cash in the system right now.

Love how you know the wealth of people on an internet forum. Fairly impressive. Maybe you can speak with your wealthy crowd of friends and they can pay for you to take an English class to learn how to spell and structure a sentence.

I don’t like it either. There’s some immediacy to my need to get a raptor though. I’m pregnant with a second child and we only have one vehicle that will accommodate two car seats. My husband needs to trade in one of his three sports cars for a raptor sometime soon...
