And of course just like all my other damn toys, once the mods begin....they never end!!!

Now that my Bed protection is done...Now I am thinking tonneau.

Previously, I was not interested. I hate those one piece covers as it kills your bed hauling capacity for Big/Large items. The idea of removing it for those instances is a no go for me.

I think the Bak flip version is better, but still does not cut the mustard for me.

Then I found this!!!!

bak g2 rollbak tonneau cover

Awesome!!!! Its the best of all worlds. Looks Great, Super Strong, Completely rolls back into itself (you only lose 9" at bulkhead), it fits flush with bed top and straight forward install. $1000 shipped.

^ That will be my next purchase. :peace:

I just hate losing that much bed to the roller :/ Otherwise I would agree.

Not sure I quite follow the logic there. You want to talk about killing bed hauling capacity, you lose about 15% of an already small bed to begin with by adding one of the roll up covers with that big 9" bulkhead on a 5.5' bed turning it into only 4.75' bed when the tailgates up. What do you lose with the bakflip? 1 or 2" at most? and zero into the depth of the bed?

The roll top covers do look really nice, but they just make an already tiny bed even smaller.

I don't care for the RollBak. The cover has rubber seal that just butts up against the inside of the tailgate. Problem is that a good cover should be on top of the tailgate and second, it's an easy place to stick a crowbar.

Undercover has a new folding cover coming out in a few months called the Flex.

Good point. If I got a tonneau it'd definitely be something similar to a BakFlip if not a BakFlip.

Anybody know if 499 + tax a good price for line x plus 299 for color?

That is very close to the quote I got. Granted the $499 was their "Premium" version which is guaranteed not to fade for life. I thought the extra $299 for color was crazy.

I'll be happy for a spray-in if I could get some reputable ratings of a Line-X dealership near the Metro Atlanta area.

Feel free to share your opinion or continue persuading me into a spray-in cause I'd sure as hell like some reassurance.

What I would do is simple:

  • Find out who your local dealerships use for their Line-X work. Start with the Ford dealerships; ask who they trust their customers' cars to and ask for a referral. You may end up saving some money via a referral vs. being an off-the-street customer anyway.

  • There have to be some local car-forums for folks in the Atlanta area. Atlanta is just too damn big for this not to be the case. Sign on to those forums and search for the obvious key-words. Register if you need to and ask for the same referrals for good Line-X franchises.

  • Barring success with either of those, call or email Line-X direct, state your concerns and ask for the name and contact info for their franchise in Atlanta that has the most experience and the least customer complaints.
