I daily drive Super Duties for work, my Raptor is my personal vehicle. I would have no issues towing a 7k boat/trailer with the Raptor. A large travel trailer across country would be a different story though.

The on-road ride alone makes the Raptor a pleasure to drive compared to the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, no question.

I had a 2007 lariat that I bought new and also a 2017 Dodge Challenger 6.4 scat pack and sold them both for my 2018 raptor. It’s my daily driver and I could not be happier with it. Sure, it gets crappy gas Milage but only about 1 mpg less than my 2007 and 2 more than the challenger. :) good luck!

Raptor get shit gas mileage. Parking can be a bitch. Only downfalls I can think of. IMO the positives outweigh the negatives.

I went from a 2015 Ram 2500 Diesel, 6.5 inch lift & 37" tires with 12.5 MPG to a 2018 SCREW Raptor that's getting just under 16 MPG. You really don't know shit MPG till you experience shit MPG

If you're used to driving a 3500 then the Raptor will feel small. But 7000 pounds is at the top end of the Raptor's towing range of 8000 pounds. It'll do it but not a lot of wiggle room there. Functionally it would be sort of a downgrade in my opinion unless your desire for an awesome Raptor outweighs the utility loss from a 3500.

But the Raptor is awesome and looks great. I love mine. I traded in a Hemi Grand Cherokee Overland for mine. Gained 800 pounds more towing, almost 100 more horsepower, a truck bed and more room inside. But gave up turning radius, parking ease, and the Grand Cherokee's very advanced road manners. But my desire for the Raptor outweighed what I was giving up.

I bought my Raptor as a toy figuring I wouldn’t like having a truck as a daily driver. A few years back I drove a ram 2500 that beat the hell out of me and was a bitch to park. The Raptor became my dd about a month after purchase and I have now put on 17k miles in the first year. My Durango just collects dust. I think parking is a breeze with the 360 camera. It’s just way too much fun to not drive it everywhere I go.

I know functionally it is a downgrade but I no longer have the need for a HD truck. I literally pull my boat 35 miles to and from the lake and that is all. I haven't deleted or tuned my diesel and I wouldn't want to. I live in a mountainous area which is probably why I get the gas mileage that I get. I can get 18 mpg on the highway easy, my 15 mpg was a mix of highway and around town driving.

I should add- when the truck is unladen if I’m not hustling around in sport mode or purposely getting on it I find I may actually be getting better “city” around town errand driving mpg than highway- long highway trips when I’m disciplined on cruise speeds or forced to due to traffic, but I tend to drive 80 on the hwy & like I said raptor seems to like being under 75 in order to get “good” hwy mileage.

I went from a 15 denali 2500 leveled tires etc....I drove the raptor once and never looked back. Your fuel economy wont be any worse than what you are getting. I average 15-16 for the most part. Towing with weight will be a different ball game. Power is there but they do sag in the rear with weight. I run timbrens when towing anything heavy but I take them out right away because the ride sucks unloaded.. I always had GM stuff and I have to say this is easily the best truck I have owned in terms of all around fun and performance. You will always be looking for a reason to drive it.

1 - If you are worried about MPG then don't get a Raptor. I have a 2013 (13.5mpg) and 2019 (17 mpg) and so the Gen2 is a nice improvement.

2 - Any new vehicle is difficult to park as you are not use to it (size, turning radius, ect.). And yes the bigger the more difficult it is to park. BUT after 2 weeks, you are use to it. I have friends who ride with me and they always comment how well I drive the Raptor. My reply is that you get use to the size and you just get comfortable with it.

3 - As a very capable off-road truck, the raptor is a joy to drive on road. It is very well behaved. You can lug it around town and drive it slow or get on it and it drives like a sports truck. It does whatever you want it to do. I am just shocked that no other manufacturer has offered a true answer to the Raptor.
