Well I am picking up my Raptor tomorrow. I also realized that I had the wrong weight on my boat. Dry it's 5900lbs so with the trailer and whatever else is in it I am well under the 8k tow rating. I'm pretty excited. Now hopefully I keep it for a while. I have a bad truck habit. Thanks for your replies

What boat do you have? 5,900 dry usually means very light. I have a 4,200 hull plus bracket, motors, arch, etc... weighed it on a forklift and it was 9,000lbs with less than half a tank of fuel. Trailers weigh another 1,000lbs+. Make sure you weigh your rig.

I have a Super Air Nautique G23. It's a 23' inboard wake boat. Specs on their website say 5900 dry. So add 1k for trailer and some for gas, oil, and coolant. Even if it's wrong I will be fine.

Next thing to do is place your order for Deavers in the back. The suspension is so soft that hooking a trailer up will cause extreme squat. Good towing threads here that can show you how to keep the squat to a minimum.

I actually backed out of the deal this morning. I am bummed out but apparently the manufacturers weight rating on my boat is very misguiding. They weigh it without the tower on it and probably some other stuff. I read last night guys are weighing them on trucking scales at 9k+ lbs. If it was flatter where I live I might not care but there is no way I can tow that thing through all the hills here.

I love my Raptor, but I actually think it’s the wrong truck for pulling that boat. I had a 22’ Tige and those boats are heavy. You add tower, gear, gas, whatever water that happens to be left in your ballast and you get a very heavy boat. Power wise you would be fine, it’s just the suspension that can’t take that weight.

Traded my 17 F250 Lariat for my Raptor 2 weeks ago and I could not be happier. However, it has definitely taken some getting used to as far as the smaller feel. Whereas I'm used to towering over everyone on the road that is no longer the case. If that is the only trade off, I'm okay with it. The only towing I do is usually a trailer to the deer lease with my side by side and a 2,000 lb tandem axle cargo trailer loaded down with luggage and beach stuff when driving from Dallas to Destin, FL so the Raptor should be fine for my towing needs. Fuel mileage is literally the exact same. 1,200 miles in and I'm averaging 15-16 which is what I got on my F250 with 295/65/20 tires. Much more fun to drive, much better ride, fully loaded with regards to features versus my base Lariat F250 and it looks sweet as hell. After I get some LED fogs, light bar, and level kit it will be the perfect truck for me. I usually only keep a truck two years but I can see myself going 4 to 5 with this one.

Check out the Timbren springs for around $250. They are expensive for what they are, but I added them to my truck in less than 30 minutes and I now have zero issues with no load or heavy loads.
