Trying to figure out how I want the jack mounted. Also I swear I saw a couple posts in another thread that the tire tie down point at the front of the rack should be down low, VS tied to the bar.

Anyone have opinions on that??

All this, and you still haven’t painted the primer?
I have a different rack, and can’t do apples to apples here, but mine is of similar-ish design. I’d want the badlands secured low as well, less chance of bouncing loose.

Jack standing up sure seems to take up less real estate. But seems less supported , ugh decisions.

I have a SVC rack but my jack is between both spares laying flat. I have seen other brackets that bolt down closer to the tailgate. It would be too much weight to bolt to the Built Rite panels.

Definitely to much weight for Built Rite panels. The Jack is a heavy piece of kit no doubt. Will be bolted to the chase rack, l like the look and space left with it mounted vertical but horizontal seems more secure.

Depending on the bracket for the jack, it still might be secure vertical. But it might fatigue over time and break. I understand wanting to keep more open bed space. Unfortunately with a chase rack, there is not much space left.

If the part ever comes off back order, I have a bracket ordered to mount mine vertically between the tires. But I have a completely different chase rack.
I’ve seen a bracket that I “ think” is sold by Pro Eagle to mount their jack vertically on IG. But I honestly don’t know that for certain. Currently I have my HF jack horizontal between tires with two ratchet straps holding it. Seems secure but would like to use the space for even more clutter in my bed.

IIRC, the badlands is ~70-ish pounds. It’s a burn to curl that thing fo’ sho’

I do not want that thing coming loose. OTOH... I’ve already got a 30-ish (?) pound rack, 2x 110 pound wheel/tire secured to the bed bolts and looking to add in another 70. Now, I’m sure the bed bolts are strong but how strong?

I know we have some pretty thorough bed setups, but how hard are those trucks being sent?

The badlands jack is no ephing joke. Hefty SOB. Honestly 2 tons jack would suffice I think. HF had a Christmas coupon going and I couldn't redeem at the time. So a family member went and got it for me. They stopped by the house and when I went to get it out of their vehicle I about shit.

I actually was thinking, damn I don't know if I could use this at 70 years old (hell 65).

It seems to be mostly aluminum, but there is definitely some steel in the ram/cylinder

The bed bolts will handle it no problem. The problem will be if there is any movement.

You don't drive a nail by just resting a hammer on a nail.

Horizontal seems the safest at the moment.
