I don't like the idea of drilling... Any other options?

Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

I got the UPR. It was under group buy, so it was discounted. I bought it under assumption it was plug and play, not knowing I had to drill the intake.

I had great concerns with drilling the intake. First, I did not want even a little hot exhaust air going back into the intake. Second, I did not want Ford to balk at warranty with a drilled hole around the turbo.

In the end, I installed it without drilling the hole and therefore not connecting the WOT line.
I called tech's at UPR and asked what would be the downside of not connecting the WOT line to the intake. All was said is no vacuum pull under boost. (Something like the stock line does and JLT does.)

The line is still attached to the can, but not the intake. It has a one way check valve to prevent air from going back into the can.

I still collect junk from the manifold vacuum, but if I had to do it all over again, I would have gone JLT. I don't think the extra vacuum under boost is all that necessary.

Under boost is when you get most your blow by. If you are worried about drilling intake tube and warranty, just buy another tube for $50 and change them out when going to ford for warranty work.

I have an S&B CAI and did not drill the hole. As a side note, if you do decide to drill the hole, it wouldn't be on the aftermarket CAI. The hole location is closer to the turbo on the stock hose. (The stock hose and after market CAI connect via a rubber tube and clamps)

So basically, you won't be drilling the aftermarket CAI, you will drill the OEM tube.
