Had my oil changed once (long ago) at one of the corner oil/inspection stores since I felt too busy to do it myself. Check engine light came on after about 2-3 hours of driving. I lifted the hood to find out that the fill-cap was either not put back on or was lose enough to have fallen off. That was the last time I took any of my vehicles in for non-warranty work that I felt able to handle myself.

Exceptions were my lowered Mustangs and the 335is that I owned for a few years. Not only could I not crawl under them (too low to even put a collection pan!) but they were too low to use ramps, which are not the best idea anyway since the tilt can affect the drainage. But on my trucks and Wranglers, I can crawl under them no problem!

I just ordered this one. Thx for posting.

Appears that there may be a slight advantage to this one (no gasket needed and the directional ability), hence the new version.

Due to the minor price increase, seems worth it to me....although both seem great.

Will the fumoto 107sx pointed down clear the skid plate through the opening when draining oil?

The oil stream will clear at first but will dribble on the skid plate. I think it’s a good idea to put a tube on the nipple.

You sure that’s true for the SX. That one points directly down, so the oil should drain the same from the first to the last drip right?

So if you cant take the ford service managers recomedation seriously who recommedations do you take?

I stand corrected. My service manager said 5k and full synthetic but the manual does state to expect an oil service to be needed about 7.5k and use a synthetic blend.

I’ll still be changing mine every five thousand with synthetic, not because that’s what he said but because what I do with all of my vehicles.

Ok guys, just thought I will add this here, do not lubricate the oil filter gasket. I have posted an extract from workshop manual. Hope this helps.
