My truck was almost empty yesterday and my wife filled it half way with 87. I've always put in at least 92. I will go and fill it the rest of the way with 92 but I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into whether an octane booster would be of any value? I know that the lower octane will automatically be accounted for in the timing etc... Thanks in advance.

Since some people run 87 on a regular basis, I don’t think you should worry about the octane level.

If you are stock, no need to worry. If you are tuned....

DO NOT run the ******** off the shelf auto parts store booster, it will coat the spark plugs and foul them out .

My brother told me he had the Lucas stuff and it was good. I have no personal experience but thanks for the info.

You should immediately drill a hole in your tank and drain it all out.

Seriously though, I run 87 all the time. Sometimes I fill up with 93 if I feel like it, it literally hurts nothing at all.

Ran 87 on 2018 for 12,000 mile with no issues. Running 87 at sea level on 2019 and 93 every third tank while breaking in - just on first 2,000 miles. MPG highway 18.5 and 16 city.
