Locktech, did you have the resonator on still?

Yes I did. The drone was just too much. The Magnaflow sounds much deeper and throaty.

No, I don't, I haven't noticed any drone from my truck either

In my case maybe it was the resonator causing it then?

I'm real happy with my magnaFlow though. When I was Cleaves age I would have opted for the loud as hell option for sure!!

That could be the case. I remember reading somewhere that someone added an OE resonator to the MBRP turndown exhaust and it made the drone worse.

I ordered one of the initial group buy MBRP turndown exhausts w/ the MBRP resonator. It's basically their full cat-back system that includes their resonator, but they got rid of the tailpipe and replaced it with the dump tip of the turndown kit whcih does not include a resonator. I haven't received it yet, but I'm curious to see how it sounds.

Haha... same here. I guess I'm a little more "refined" in my old age. :)

I'm pretty sure the OEM resonator is specifically designed to combat the drone caused by the OEM muffler, basically I believe it uses a certain frequency of drone to cancel out the drone caused by the muffler, without both of them in place though the drone is horrible from either one, the same way the noise canceling headphones use noise to cancel out background noises so they're super quiet, but the stock cat-forward exhaust causes little to no drone

My favorite part of my exhaust is if you catch it at a certain range of throttle opening it goes completely silent, also the California emission regulations do not restrict cat-back modifications at all, including complete removal of the cat-back exhaust system, I just have to worry about the ticket I might get for not having a muffler, and seeing as I've been pulled over since I took my exhaust off and didn't get a ticket for it I'm not too worried

Drone comes from the engine not the muffler. It's a frequency and each motor is unique in it's resonance

Any engine that runs will have drone, but the length and flow rate of the exhaust changes when it happens, you can tune your exhaust so it drones below idle speed or over redline so that your engine technically never drones
