I sell both brands. I have noticed in the last year or so that the Toyo's stopped lasting as long as they used to. But my Nitto rep was the one that gave me the info. From what I've seen though, the weight is the same on 90% of them.

My Toyos were purchased in spring 2009 and my Nittos were purchased in fall 2011 if that makes any difference. I can tell you though, from my experience, my Nittos did significantly better on wet pavement than my Toyos.

That makes sense. We experienced a lot of customers Toyo's dry rotting before they would wear out due to what I believe was a harder rubber compound. In result I think Toyo went with a softer/different compound sometime in 2012. Did your Toyo's wear better than your Nitto's? If so that could explain the differences you noticed.

My Toyos actually wore worse. I only got about 25K miles out of them with minimal off-roading, minimal towing, and regular rotate/balance every 5K miles. I'm pretty sure I got a defective set since most people rave about how long they last so I didn't list that above in my pros/cons. Unfortunately, I purchased these before Toyo offered a warranty with them through Discount Tire so I was SOL. Decided to go with Nittos on my next set and was WAY happier with the results. They felt lighter, had better wet traction, balanced a lot easier, and they wore significantly better than my previous set of Toyos.

Called Discount Tire today & was told that Toyo MTs in 35x12.5x17 are on national backorder with no eta and it could be a few months before they are available. Anybody run into this?

Also got a price on the Nittos at 315/ea - seems kind of high compared to what some people have been getting them at. Haven't seen anywhere lower on the interwebs though.

Where are you located? I checked with my two Toyo suppliers and they have plenty (20 with my CA supplier and 4 with my NV supplier)

San Antonio here. Was leaning towards the Nittos anyways, just thought it a little weird that they were saying they think it will be a few months before they get anymore Toyos.
