Huh what's missing. The front end of the Magnaflow should have a flange that bolts to the mid pipe. Thats where the LT headers would end and bolt to the flange.

There is no Fab work they are set to just bolt on.

I am stupid when it comes to these sort of things...Thanks for helping...

Yeah, if you order the LT's with "Factory Connect" then they will bolt right up to your Magnaflow catback, no modding needed. The only reason you would need an extra pipe with shorties (if/when they become available) is because the collectors won't be in the same place as with the LT's, but most companies that offer shorties (I am confident SW would do the same) will also offer a mid pipe for that connection so that they can be bolted directly to a factory connect style catback like the Magnaflow.

Thanks Chris....Thanks for bearing with me on this!

No worries brother! You want to make sure you get the right parts to begin with, that is completely understandable, especially with a large purchase like that. No need running into issues if you can head them off before you get there.

Fred you are a smart man, as Chris said u are doing your research before taking a fairly large plunge. Luckily you have many members to learn from as this seems to be a popular mod lately.

Just a FYI khcDave was running ARH headers with a Magnaflow catback the last time I went to their raptor meet and it sounded pretty good.

Nick,

Posted on Chris's thread as well. I thought I would post up a few additional questions that have come up as well. I know you do a bit of research on the tune and any o2 sensor....

Maybe not the thread to keep with header questions...

1-so the SW will bolt directly to the magnaflow...cool

2-Gaskets folks....are their recommendations for using stock manifold Ford gaskets? Point I do NOT want to pull these things back off...

3-5 star tune...is this turn key so to speak...I.e. Takes care of any possible issues with o2s? I guess mike can email me a tun for my SCT...

4- coated?

5- is there anything else I should make myself aware of regarding possible relocation of o2 sensors, do they turn the rear o2s off? If so would that effect drive ability....

Thanks for your help....

The headers come with new gaskets. The tuning can be done either by contacting me OR Mike and will be emailed to you for loading to your X3 and it does turn off the 02 sensors so that you do not have to be concerned with throwing check engine lights or anything like that, that does not affect the drivability at all.

As for the coating, the thermal coating on the headers is a good thing, the coatings from Stainless Works are coated inside and outside the headers and help to decrease under hood temperatures while passing the heat from the exhaust flow through the headers better.

1. Yes

2. SW provides rtv gasket maker to use. I did a ton of searching on what's best to used. Reusing OEM gaskets with rtv on both sides or just the provided rtv seem to be the way to go.

3. A 5 star tune setup for headers will be turn key. It shuts the rear o2's off. With that said check and see what inspection machines in your state look for....u can look into my header/inspection thread for what's involved with that.

4. I would say yes. Cutting down hear in the engine bay I feel is very important

The kit from SW will provide u enough parts to not NEED any additional parts but I do suggest spark plug wire insulators.
