more off road capable, perhaps more fun to drive (i.e. stick shift for those who prefer that - I am one)

things like that

No other vehicle will put a smile on your face like the Raptor when you realize your driving down that dirt or gravel road faster and smoother than a paved road...lol...

I think it's safe to say a Raptor killer will come. Next year, in five years, either from Ford or someone else. To expect the Raptor to he King of the Hill indefinitely is just not realistic.

But the Raptor is 4-5 years old, and it has aged well. I think it could become a "classic" in the sense it will look good 10 years from now even though there may be hotter trucks out. Like a 60 something Corvette. Or an old Mustang. Who knows.

But today it's dabomb. Enjoy it.

Sounds like you are trying to talk yourself out of buying a raptor and your buddies are right there with you on making you feel the same. You drove one and felt it was blah. Then compare it to an H3. I never thought anyone thought it was the cool thing. H1, yeah now you are talking.

Don't buy the raptor, stick with what you know and love, GM products.

Best of luck.

here, on frf
What about the counter of "well you could have bought a used xyz" and have a "better" truck for half the price! etc etc etc
define warranty.......

the raptor is a combination of luxury onroad ride and the most extreme offroad capabilities off a factory line. i could go buy a luxury sports car and have a faster more agile on road vehicle. i could go buy a prerunner and have more offroad capabilities. but take you luxury sports car offroad, and daily drive your prerunner and let us know what you think. the raptor is a sophisticated machine that says "im a badass truck that can go where other trucks cant" yet also says "i can drive the queen of england around" (i would have said the president, but he sucks balls and doesnt deserve to be driven around) sure you can have better this or better that, but find another vehicle that has the perfect combination like the raptor. go ahead, i will wait.

If you think the raptor is not for you, chances are, you're right! It's the multi-tool of vehicles. It can do it all. BMW is not the ultimate driving machine (insert raptor climbing on BMW half on road and half on dirt)

What about the counter of "well you could have bought a used xyz" and have a "better" truck for half the price! etc etc etc

- No Hill Descent Control
- No front camera with washer nozzle
- No electronics to compensate for airbag deployment when lawn darting the front end off of a jump
- No stock Fox shocks
- No off road mode
- Stock width not 7" wider with roll over stability control
- No factory warranty on what would otherwise be aftermarket parts
- Could never match the looks of this truck stock without modifications
- The electronics that change the yaw, braking, traction control etc depending on the mode it is in
- Heated/cooled leather seats in a luxury pre-runner
- 100MPH offroad capable and I have been there myself
- Beadlock capable wheels stock
- Frame reinforcement for jumping with bump stops (could be upgraded but it's there)
- Ford it's Built Ford *********** Tough and no bailout money
- Built on the best selling platform for the last 36 years
- 4:10 Torsen front end
- Ford's electronic diff locker which is best in the industry
- Boss 6.2L V8
- Stock Aux switches where you don't have to splice into the vehicles electronically wiring with easy access through firewall to the up fitters
- Stock HID projector headlights
- Born in Baja and ran the Baja Race and completed 3rd in class
- Stock Trailer brake controller
- I'm done listing shit

I hear I could do this or I could build that all the time, but not once has anyone ever had anything better than my Raptor. Remember you didn't actually test drive a Raptor until you have had it in OffRoad Mode with 4 wheel high and diff locked. Completely different beast off road than driving down a street or stretch of freeway. What ever you build for off road, won't be as comfortable on road either. Go buy something else and try to build a Raptor. We'll see where your wallet ends up and how well you can compete with one.

I like this list! There were a few things on here I didn't know. Is there a "master list" like this, or just one of the things I need to learn as a newbie?

But as an update, I am still moving forward towards the Raptor. Tomorrow I get my trade appraised. I know what the GM dealership quoted it, so I need them to at least meet that. A little nervous they will come in low, but we will see. If they are at least even, then I'm 98% sure I'll pull the trigger.
