In California they can even confiscate your vehicle if they choose to do so. They are extremely serious about what they deem illegal for on road use on a registered vehicle. Unless you really want the exhaust and are willing to pay the consequences for the installation and use, I do not recommend the installation. They can also go after the company that sold you the parts. I have seen the EPA walk into companies like H&S tuning and confiscate their entire inventory, shut them down and levy hefty fines against them. It is no joke.

Jesus! Wow. Thanks for the quick reply. So from what I've seen, Corsa and Volant are basically made by the same company, right? Is Corsa CARB Certified in California?

Yes Sir, I can ship Corsa extreme or sport to California according to the warehouse, but not the Volant. It shows the Volant being non carb legal in Cali but shows no such designation for the Corsa.

Huh, seems strange...maybe the extra money that Corsa cost is them paying CA off for the "CARB Certification". Haha

Just for my personal knowledge, does any cat back exhaust affect smog testing in CA? I've been told a couple times that anything after the cats has no affect on the smog test. Is that true? IF that's true, why are some systems not CARB Certified.

Thanks for the knowledge!

Technically that is correct, cat-back systems do not affect emissions in any way. The thing is, some companies spend a little extra for testing their products to prove that they meet carb compliance standards and some do not. It depends really on whether the company determines the possible market value is worth the expense to do such testing/certification. or whether they want to jump through the hoops so to speak. While Corsa technically owns Volant, that doesn't mean that they will ever jump through the hoops for the Volant products.

Yep, TMG Performance, the parent company to Corsa Performance acquired Volant in 2013 and subsequently moved Volant manufacturing to Ohio from their previous Southern California base of operations. That move in and of itself may have a little to do with the non carb compliant status of Volant products, you know, more liberal backlash since they moved them out of Cali...

Thanks Chris for the quick and thorough replies! I appreciate it!

So it does seem that my joke about Corsa being more expensive because of the CARB certification is true. I really like the tone of the Volant and the price is so much better. I'm still thinking the Volant, just breaking the law...won't be the first or the last time. Thanks for your prior help last week with my inquiries. I will keep it all in mind. Thanks again

Different stainless, muffler tech is a little bit different and single wall slash cut tip instead of dual wall twin tips as well Volant vs. Corsa. :)

Double the exhaust tips for double the price! Boo Ya! Good thing I don't even want to run a tip and I don't like the double tip look anyway. Any grade stainless is fine by me. I can't justify twice the price for the Volant and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, I like the sound better out of the Volant.

Anyone one on here that would want to buy the Volant exhaust tip from me brand new as soon as I get the system, IM me
